Guest guest
I thought I would provide an update to the group--in case my experience is relevant to anyone reading this. I finally today reduced my daily dosage of Prednisone to Zero. Under my doctor's (rheumatologist) direction, I went from 40 mg to 20 to 15 to 10 to 5 to 3 to 2 to 1 to today. I had "hints" of a flareup when I started 3 mg per day, but the pain went away after a day, then again when I reduced to 2 mg, and then last week when I started 1 mg per day, I had a brief "relapse" that lasted 2 days (significant pain in one ankle). Today I don't feel anything, so I'm crossing my fingers. I don't know how many of you withdrew from Prednisone as gradually as I, but I hope it will stay supressed. In my case it's critically important that I'm off steroids for at least 2 months so I can finally have surgery that's been dalayed because of the serious risk of infection.Hope this experience is of help. While Prednisone was definitely a "miracle," it does have serious draw-backs, and I glad I'm done with EN and Prednisone--at least for now!Best,Hal

Guest guest
Hi Hal, I too have been weaned off Prednisone, I started on 25mg for 10 days then went down to 20mg, reducing by one tablet each week until I was on 5mg (1 tablet) for a week. I have now been off Prednisone for just over a week and so far (fingers crossed) I am still EN free, although I did worry last week as the lump on my arm seemed to hurt again but thankfully its gone again!! Im glad to be off the steroids now but I must say Prednisone worked like a treat for me with no side effects, it worked very quickly and allowed me to get on with life to the full again! I know its not for everyone but it stopped me getting very low as the pain was just awful beforehand. Do you still have marks where your lumps were? I have bruise like marks where each one was and a couple of painless lumps where they were on my arms! Lets hope we stay EN free! Take care, Sian x
