Please see attachment and information below about our next upcoming very exciting presentation:

The Westchester Art Therapy Association

and the College of New Rochelle present:

COMPUTER ANIMATION:

NEW THERAPEUTIC METHODOLOGIES PROMOTING

ADOLESCENT DEVELOPMENT

Adequately engaging at-risk youth during the after school hours is an issue

that plagues society. Between the hours of 3 and 6 p.m. the violent juvenile

crime rate triples and experimentation with sex, drugs, cigarettes and alcohol

peaks. At-risk youth not involved in delinquent behaviors are likely immersed in

playing video games. If children are not lost to the street, they are lost to a

machine. What to do? This workshop will present case studies to demonstrate how 3D computer

animation, with its connection to video games and popular entertainment, is

proving to be a powerful draw for adolescents. The therapeutic value of

technology, especially those that are capturing the hearts, minds and bodies of

our children, will be explored.

Austin holds a BFA in painting from the

School of Visual Arts, and studied architecture

and animation at Pratt University, NYU, and

Parsons School of Design. He holds a Masters

in Art Therapy from The School of Visual Arts.

The founder and program director of THE

ANIMATION PROJECT, Mr. Austin, has two

decades of experience at the professional level

in the field of computer graphics and

animation. Mr. Austin has taught computer

animation at N.Y.U. and The School of Visual

Arts and has co-authored Inside 3D Max4, a

‘how to’ text for the professional animator.

Mr. Austin’s animation talents have earned

him a Grammy nomination, plus two Telly

Awards. Mr. Austin worked as a fine artist

and his most recent shows were at PS1

Contemporary Arts Center and Exit Art in

New York City. His artwork is contained in

the collection of the Museum of Modern Art

and C.W. Post College.
