Guest guest
Hi there, I am new to ACT, and I really think it would help me, I have generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder. I have been seeing a therapist for three years but I am still having trouble and I really don't want to take drugs, I don't even drink alcohol. In general, I function in life pretty well, but when the attacks hit, my whole life has to basically shut down. I am reading Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life, it is really speaking to me, and I'm hoping someone on this list might know of a good therapist practicing ACT therapy in or near Pasadena, CA? I have asked my current therapist about ACT - I also told him I didn't feel like I was improving very much, he said he would look into some research and get back to me. To be honest, he's a great guy but he does seem to think that drugs are a good option, but at this point I feel like I would like to work on the ACT stuff before going down that road. Any referrals or information you could give me would be helpful. Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi - I'm using " The Mindfulness and Acceptance Wookbook for Anxiety " by Forsyth and Eifert. It's ACT based but more specific for anxiety. I hope you find an ACT therapist as you need someone who understands it. I've found learning ACT is almost like learning to drive on the opposite side of the road.
