Guest guest
I've been playing around with a thought of a "physical" group of ACT enthusiasts who regularly meet and would really value any thoughts and opinions about the existence of such group/s. Have you ever been to one and what was your experience? My feelings about it so far have been quite mixed and would really like some input. I guess the purpose would be the same as in this group, discussions, etc, but maybe with some practical input too, e.g. mindfulness exercises. If that's the case, are physical groups really needed?Off the top of my head...Possible benefits- sharing the techniques/knowledge/experience of using ACT (this we already do here)- being in an environment where people understand your "counterintuitive" responses - families and friends from my experience don't quite understand ACT Possible costs- getting entangled in our thinking minds- identifying ourselves with our "problem"- would a group be yet another avoidance?- ?creating dependencePlease Find a better answer, faster with the new Yahoo!7 Search - Start Here. Guest guest
It would be great, there is nothing for people suffering from anxiety here. And no therapists seem to want to get a group going. Are support groups out of fashion these days? I never see any for psychological issues, just addiction or medical conditions. Anyway, if there are others near me, we can talk about setting up that is ACT focused. - Los Angeles, CA I would love to try it. Guest guest
Bill, I've been keeping your e-mail around since August when you sent it. I am a Denverite. Did you ever get a group together in the Boulder area? E-mail me -- virgmorr@.... I feel like I'm finally ready to commit to the idea of ACT-ing out (pun totally intended with a group. Guest guest
I am in Denver. I have a fantastic new therapist if you guys need one. I could ask him about facilitating an ACT group. He is a really good ACT therapist. Robyn
