Guest guest
Hi, This is my first post and I hope I'm doing it right. My anxiety/depression/self criticism has been a lifelong nightmare for me so I've looking into CBT, ACT etc. I'm reading Get out of your Mind and into your life and done a lot of the work. My question is, when I took Effexor it worked incredibly well. 90% of my problems simply went away. I stopped taking it because I had a few side effects and I thought I didn't need it. I guess I might have been wrong. I'm trying to decide whether or not to take medication again and I was hoping I could avoid it by doing ACT, but honestly after looking at these boards it seems like it is such an ongoing struggle and I'm tired of struggling. I just read a posting about someone who was in ACT therapy for a year. I just don't want another year of suffering. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions? I hope this isn't appearing too rambling and doesn't offend any ACT practioners. Thanks
