I am still new on the ACT journey but have had a small breakthrough this morning. For some reason I am feeling depressed and anxious today, I don't know why. Normally I would have tried to figure out why I feel the way I do and try and talk my way out of it. I'd write into my journal trying to analyse what's going on, maybe even using CBT to help make myself feel better. Anyway, this time I thought I will actually stay with the feeling, breathe into it and accept that's how I feel right now. Full stop. The funny thing is that I thought 'the feeling can't hurt you, it can do absolutely nothing bad to you, it's just an unpleasant feeling but it is harmless' Well, I smiled, went back to my desk and started working again.
