Guest guest
Diane, My moms -lewy- days had some good days mixed in. Those good days are the ones that I remember, and it wasn't hard to forget the worst. From the many stories that people have shared on this list, often it isn't -Lewy- that actually causes the end. Frequently it is the complications. When my mom's hip went during a fall, she lost so much in her brief hospital stay. This is a common theme, that hospital meds given during the stay are devistating on our loved ones with LBD. After some dark valleys, we had some sunny days that we really appreciated. My mom's final decline was very brief, and caught us by surprise. We didn't do an optopsy, but my guess is that her heart failed. This group helped me a lot. I too, spent a lot of hours reading posts and gleaning information. Dann Diane wrote:
Guest guest
Hi Dann, Thanks for writing. Yes, I am too trying to enjoy the good days but they are getting less and less. I try to keep her out of the hospital although a few times I went against the Doctor's wishes. Before I knew it was LBD Mom was on anti-dep and Resperidal...tried Aricept...these always made her worse. Now I know why. I finally decided about 6 months ago to take her off everything. She did much better. Then I found out about LBD. I am trying a low dose of Exelon and she seems to be tolerating it very well. As far as any Mental health meds she is not going back on them at this point as long as I have anything to say about it. I find I really have to advocate for her or else they just want to fill her up on meds. Not her primary care Doctor A but all the specialists we have seen. So, I stay away from them as much as possible. <smile> Have a great day... Thanks again, Diane
