Specific strategies for exceeding the standards by implementing processes that support success are provided. Participants are challenged to find ways to meet the spirit and intent of the standards with creative problem solving by participation in group activities that support “thinking outside the box.” This workshop reviews the standards as they specifically relate to rehab and provides practical examples from departments that have achieved “commendation”. Successful documentation tools and policies are provided for participant use. Objectives Upon completion of this session, the participant will be able to: · Understand the survey process, be able to participate positively and know the common “hot topics” for surveys by participating actively in group discussions. · Know the documentation requirements for JCAHO compliance and have an understanding of how to use documentation tools to achieve compliance. · Demonstrate and understanding of and be able to discuss how to meet the requirements for patient assessment, treatment and continuum of care; safety and infection control · Understand the requirements for staff orientation, ongoing education and competency assessment and be able to establish a plan to assure that the competency assessment program in their own department meets the requirements. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, School of Allied Health Professions, she has over 20 years experience as a therapist, manager, educator and hospital administrator including extensive experience as a speaker on quality improvement, customer service, documentation requirements, clinical applications for physical agents, preparation for JCAHO and management issues. Her lecture style combines current research and educational information with examples of realistic and practical clinical applications. Images had provided consultative services for start-up operations for rehabilitation units, rehabilitation hospitals and a variety of outpatient clinics and well as preparation for JCAHO and CARF Survey.
