In case you've noticed, I find some pretty good prices out there, my secret weapon is Shopzilla. I go there, type in the supplement I am looking for, and find the best prices. I also use eBay, I look there as well, have several sellers "bookmarked" in my fave sellers list.

Dawn,

I was told on the board 8200 from everyone. I am pricing around too.

Dr. Ramos was the cheapest so far that I have contacted. 7500

for everything but the airplane ticket. 8400 for air and patient

coordinator to be with you. Let me know what you find out....I'm

getting this done too!!

I don't think that was Dr. Aceves, since I've never seen him do a

special but then I could be wrong as well. Now there is another Dr.

Aguilar(?), in Mx that does specials every now and then on

Obesityhelp.com. Check with Nina, but I think the going price for Dr.

A is still $8,200.

The special that is advertised is for the lap. I had to ask the office there was a special for the GBP. Based on the price you noted, I am assuming that you have chosen to go with the GBP. Can you tell me why you opted to go for this rather than the lap? I am schedule for Feb 1st - but I haven't decided which surgery I want to do. Not trying to be nosy, just trying to get ideas. Thanks in advance.magnoliamouth <karenostrom@...> wrote: Was the special just for lap bands or Gastric by

I'm guessing the reason for the lack of a special for bypass is the costs associated with it. Dr. A's costs are a great deal more for bypass, OR's often times charge by the hour or maybe even quarter hour. Three hours vs. thirty minutes makes a big difference. Anesthesiologists charge by the hour, the hospital charges for the patient stay, there is more staff time involved (hospital coordinator, , asst surgeon, etc.). Maybe there just isn't any room to work with fees for the bypass procedure. Also, I would think things would slow down a bit over the holidays. Most people want to wait until after the holidays to restrict their eating and heal from surgical procedures. Perhaps that is part of it too, it would make sense.Abbigail Kadar <abbikadar@...> wrote: The special that is advertised is for the lap. I had to ask the office there was a special for the GBP. ... That was a small factor, but a factor nonetheless. I saw the first photo of him (and old one) and agreed with something I read earlier, in one photo he looks like Saddam. ;o) But the REAL photo he looks nice. It shows his personality. I just didn't want Saddam operating on me. LOL Elam <welam@...> wrote: , I just wanted to tell you I chose Dr. A the same way. I had shopped around, but it was his picture that I was drawn too. I know it is silly but I looked at all the dr's eyes and I felt the most comfortable with Dr. A. I can say that I am glad I made the decision I did! I was very impressed with the staff and the hospital. Also,

when making your decision make sure you check and see if their price includes a hospital stay or hotel stay. One price I found very cheap but I would only have been in the hospital for a few hours and then moved to a hotel which I did not want. Plus, I was weary of a very low price (found one for $6900) b/c I questioned why the dr. was willing to be so low compared to others in the area.Good luck to you!>> was there a jan feb special with doc A that was cheaper then usual? i > accidently deleted this and wanted to find out if this was him or > another band doc.> Im trying to get this scheduled.> dawn m> __________________________________________________

I told them that it wasn't fair for the band to have a special and not the GBP!!! So went back and asked, and that's when she got that price. magnoliamouth <karenostrom@...> wrote: Funny, I was quoted 12,500 for by pass and you were guoted 12,100 forthe pass, doesn't that seem strange to you? __________________________________________________
