Guest guest Posted February 13, 2006 Report Share Posted February 13, 2006 So great to find this message in my ebox just now sis as I have just stepped in the door from my trip to Los Gatos to talk with the first cancer doc. Everything he said was as I predicted..... except he wants me to do this new radiation treatment called Whole Abdominal Radiation that they have been doing at Stanford - with great success- he says. It would require me going to Palo Alto every day for six weeks.... no way I can do that; just don't have a way to get there, or stay there for that length of time. He favored this approach, and said both it and chemo have their drawbacks because with chemo you don't know if the cancer might show up later...with this form of radiation it only works if you happen to zap the right bit of tissue where the cancer cells might be hanging out. And it's impossible to tell where those cells might be. So that's the word from this guy. Still have another cancer doc to see Thu. He knows her and they all know each other, so I don't know how much more I will learn. However his info was different from that of , the one who came to see me in the hospital. She favored only chemo and didn't recommend radiation because she said chemo gets to all the cells in the body...but then she didn't know about this new Stanford technology. Lilja was nicer today than I remembered him in the hospital and seemed kinder and more acknowledging of me... but he still mowed me down with his words and opinions, did most of the talking, and was admantly opposed to anything alternative.... talked of quacks and scams and unreliability when Debby asked him if he'd heard of LDN. I wish she hadn't even brought it up. I need to keep my faith now in LDN and alternatives, no matter what I end up doing. He was the voice of doom regarding the type of cancer I have... said it actually skipped a whole section of lymph nodes and leaped from my uterus all the way up to the nodes around my aorta. Those are the ones he took out during surgery, among others. Feeling kinda blue and discouraged right now. Syren sis please do tell me anything you can find out from this lecture on beating cancer gently....it sounds like something I need to know about. Thanks so much!
