Guest guest
Boy Amy, I hit my head up against the wall with this often. It is so strange that more doctors don't just look at how patients are doing with something. I am so glad that some of us are either so fed up with the other sanctioned/authorized avenues, or that we are smart enough to see that such a large percentage of people are having a good reaction, that we decide it must be worth trying LDN. And thank goodness for the internet and our ability to find one another. Aletha [low dose naltrexone] Re: New to the group & my 2 cents on weight loss >I thought it was strange myself. Guest guest
Hi - My GP has ok'd writing the script for me. What dose should I start at, 3mg? He is not familiar with it, but I found a compounding pharmacy in my area that fills it for other MS'ers and uses lactose as a filler, so that part is taken care of. I just wanted to see what you all think of starting at 3mg, and then possibly moving up to 4.5mg if 3 mg is tolerated ok? Thank you so much,
Guest guest
Hi Jen, Personally, I started off at 3mg for the first month, then upped it to 4.5mg and have been there ever since. If you get it (RX) in 1.5mg caps, you can vary the dose and find what's right for you. just my 2cents worth. back to 'da cave. Guest guest
Hi Aletha, I also agree that it is strange that doctors don't want to prescribe LDN when there are no side effects - what harm can it do but if anything improve the condition. I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and we are very fortunate that we have a Pharmacy that compounds the 50 mg. LDN and uses only lactose as a filler. They are the only pharmacy here that does this. Now get a doctor to prescribe it. Well fortunately my general practitioner (By the way he is Chinese) was willing to prescribe it for me after he did some research on it himself. Originally I took some printed material off the web page for LDN and he read it too. There is another MD who will prescribe LDN. He is in holistic medicine and says he himself is taking it as a preventative. Also I have mentioned this before I have Fibromayalgia (for almost 20 years) and it is the first time I have had relief of pain. Can't really believe it. Haven't seen too much on this site about Fibro people. Would be interested to know how many are taking LDN for fibro and arhtritis. I have been spreading the word about ldn to those I feel could benefit from it. Just the other I gave some ino to my neighbour lady who was just diagnosed with Parkinsons. This site is just wonderful in that there is so much information gained from other people's experiences. I joined last December but did not receive a welcome package. Not sure who to talk to about this so will wait for a reply from whoever. Just had to get my two bits worth on here. I am 150% better than I have been in years and only hope and pray it continues for the rest of my days. Sure makes for better quality life. Thanks.
