That lesion may have been there prior to LDN. MRI's can miss lesions. I have never put much faith in MRI's as they have seen lesions on me one year and those same lesions may not show for 5 years and then show back up in the same exact place 5 years later and then not show on MRI for another 3 years and then mysteriously re-appear again. My neuro won't even do an MRI on me unless I am showing signs of progressing and since being on LDN for 2 1/2 years I haven't progressed so no MRI and I am chronic progressive or what they call today Progressive-Relapsing MS. Most likely next year that new lesion will not be active just like the rest. Stick with the LDN as your symptoms are not worsening nor are you having relapses. Guest guest
Hi Jen, I know having a new lesion would be considered to be progression, but it does not necessarily mean new symptoms. When I first started this journey with my husband I was determined that we were going to log every step, and we were going to tract his progress/or lack of progress by the MRI's. In fact I made sure he had an MRI just before starting LDN. Like you, LDN had been great for my husbands symptoms and his life was basically returned to him. He went in for a follow-up MRI a few months later and they found another tiny lesion. I posted on the board and found that some have so many lesions and that they have no symptoms, and some have only 1 lesion and they have tremendous symptoms. We determined that tracking with the MRI's is not an avenue that we were going to pursue anymore. We were just going to see how is feeling and go with that. That took the pressure off of us and we don't worry about the MRI's anymore. I don't think you are doing anything wrong. is on the diet, and takes many supplements, and I am pretty sure that you had posted the same. If not, and you are wanting to do additional things to help in other areas just let me know if you want all of that info. Hang in there and don't worry about the MRI's. Guest guest
Hi Jen, So you think you had 1 new lesion after 2 years of LDN.... not too bad at all even it was accurate. Perhaps they miss it the first time. How big it is? How old it is... (do not look, they cannot tell you that) Did you have the MRI repeated with the same machine? Results change from one machine to another as I had it told by doctors!!! Do not worry, I think LDN is working well for you. If you are really worried just take another MRI in a couple of years and have an happy life in the meantime... you will find this new scar disappeared and perhaps a new one somewhere else. Guest guest
Thank you all, Yes I had the same machine and the same technician as the last MRI. This new lesion is on a different side of the brian then the others. I think that you are right though if I do not have any symptoms I will continue to use LDN as I have always said that it gave me my life back. Now if I could just be as lucky as the few here who said that LDN helped them lose weight life would be great! Thank you all for your input Jen > > > > Hi, > > I have been on 4.5mg of LDN since Jan 11 2004. Guest guest
Was your follow up MRI on the SAME machine power and type as previous ones? How large was this new lesion? I had brain MRIs 6/02 and 1/03 on Open MRI machines, and then 8/04 my neuro wanted me to have one in a Closed Tesla 1.5 My 6/02 and 1/03 were virtually the same. The Closed machine MRI showed a 'new' lesion, 7mm, was seen. Given that this was done in a closed, I don't consider it 'new', just previously unseen. I haven't seen my neuro since 5/04, not sure if he'll send me for another MRI to compare "we're not running an LDN trial, ya know". http://www.larrygc.com/mystory is the rest of my story. Been on LDN since 4/03 and things are still improving. [low dose naltrexone] MRI Results - Help Hi,I have been on 4.5mg of LDN since Jan 11 2004. I have not had any real symtoms since starting LDN and have not had any relapses that I can remember. I love that LDN gave me my life back however I am concerned as I just had my follow up MRI and they said that they have found a new lesion. The other lesions that I have are said to have no activity but there is this new one in another part of my brian. Is this normal?? I thought that LDN was to help us not progress?? what am I doing wrong??I take LDN evrynight before bed approx 9-10pm as I can not stay up any later then that and have never mised a dose ever since starting but how did I get a new lesion??Any feedback would be great!ThanksJen
