Braydon was released from the hospital and sent home this past monday. Sorry it

has taken awhile to update you all, its just been hectic here.

Braydon had surgery on 2/17 and was sent home on 2/23, he did good up until 2/27

when he woke up puking, and running a 101.0 fever. We drove him back to the

hospital and after many test, a lumbar puncture, blood work, and xrays they

determined he had Bacterial Meningitis and started him on heavy antibiotic while

they waited for the cultures to come back. After 2 days on antibiotics braydon

got much worse and couldn't even sit up in bed without puking, when he was awake

he was constantly crying in pain. The surgeon finally decided that he tought he

may have " Chemical " menningitis not " bacterial " menningitis, so they started him

on heavy doses of Decadron and within two hours he was up out of bed and hasnt

thrown up since. He was released after 5 days in the hospital and was sent home

on decadron for another 5 days (smaller dose each day)to wean him off. He is

still not doing very good, he has no fever and no poking but he is nowhere even

close to acting like himself, he has headaches constantly and tylenol does

nothing, if he sits and watches tv he is ok usually but if he gets up and plays

then within 10 minutes he is moaning and crying that his head hurts. Im so

frustrated because when he was released from the hospital the dr said he

shouldnt be in pain and they thought that maybe being at home would help, but

obviously it hasnt. We go back to see the neurosurgeon this monday and they are

suppose to do more xrays with flexion/extension to test for cervical instability

because the surgeon said that based on what he viewed on previous mris and xrays

braydon is at high risk for developing cervical instability.

Does anyone have any ideas of what could be going on with him and his pain? at

this point he seems worse than he did before surgery.

could he still be having pain from the menningitis? I know the surgeon said he

shouldnt but we all know that they arent always right!

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank You

Janna
