-- A post to thank everyone/ my stepmom is at peace

now

This fall when I found this forum I was so happy... finally some

answers and good sense!! So many of you helped me in my struggle to

make sense of Lewy Body Disease. I only wish my father could have

known these things when he cared for my stepmom. Thank you to Carol in

Florida for giving me some of your precious time as well. She emailed

me and encouraged me to do some heavy thinking and healing.

My " Babe " passed last Thursday the 21st. It was peaceful but so sad

that her body just broke down. She would not let us nourish her other

than regular table food. I feel like she and my father starved to

death in a way but it was what they wanted. They both refused to put

special orders in place to prolong their lives. As hard as it was...I

will do the same for my children.

My heart is here for all of you wonderful caregivers. My one bit of

insight is this...when your loved one gets to the point that the meds

aren't really helping...stop them. I got my stepmom back for a few

months after I stopped her Nameda and Aricept. She was able to relax

and her mind cleared some...it got a little worse while the drugs

cleared out of her system but she finally woke up some. It was like

hitting the refresh key on the PC. I think sometimes those meds don't

work well in the later stages.

Love to all, Sara in NC

Welcome to LBDcaregivers.
