My question deals with how most facilities bill for FCEs? The OP clinics I

deal with bill 97750 (performance testing) with units per 15 minutes. It has

been discussed with me that it is mandatory to bill a 97001 on the first

visit. If the only reason the patient is in the clinic is for an FCE, does

the patient receive an evaluation and then the performance test? Does anyone

bill both codes on the same service date? HCFA, through the NTIS correct

coding edits states these two codes are mutually exclusive when performed on

the same service date. The Ohio BWC states they do not follow any specific

coding edit manual so it is up to the MCO. Any feedback is appreciated.
