Guest guest
Sharon: Can Hospice be called w/o calling the doctor in this situation, since it's the weekend and holiday as well? I think they sometimes have a doctor on duty that could make the decision to allow Hospice. Just a thought. --- LadySmilingAtU2@... wrote: > hello all, > i am chatting with jan on her call phone yahoo. as > of now, jim is only eating thick soup that jan > cooks, he tries to eat, she said he is trying to > cough up mucous and is unable to. she says he feels > miserable. currently he is holding her hand and > wont let go. she has to wait till tues to call the > doctor and get hospital hospice started. here in > pensacola, we have 2 hospice companies, and they do > the hosp, home, and nh/alf. jim is talking some to > jan still as he holds her hand. she is typing one > handed to me, bless her heart. i wish i was able > healthwise to fly to jan i would be on plane > tomorrow. she is hoping that jim will bounce back. > jan doesnt know it at the moment, but i am sure she > will soon,as i emaild her daughters and her best > friend about jims worsening condition, as i am > concerned that she will try to handle this all by > herself. she is wanting to call in hospital hospice > but due to the holidays, she needs to wiat until > tues, i am trying to get her to call Jims regular > doctor tomorrow and see if the on call doctor can > help her. Guest guest
Jan and Sharon I got Hospice for Mom by calling them direct. They came and evaluated Mom and informed her doctor that she qualified. Of course it wasn't on a weekend or holiday but it is worth a try. Guest guest
I did take Mom to the hospital and had the hospital hospice. She could do that too. She does need hospice before Tues, it sounds like. Hugs, Donna R Caregave for Mom (after I brought her from WI to MI) for 3 years and 4th year in a nh. She was almost 89 when she died in '02. No dx other than mine. update on jim as of 11pm central time hello all, i am chatting with jan on her call phone yahoo. as of now, jim is only eating thick soup that jan cooks, he tries to eat, she said he is trying to cough up mucous and is unable to. she says he feels miserable. currently he is holding her hand and wont let go. she has to wait till tues to call the doctor and get hospital hospice started. here in pensacola, we have 2 hospice companies, and they do the hosp, home, and nh/alf. jim is talking some to jan still as he holds her hand. she is typing one handed to me, bless her heart. i wish i was able healthwise to fly to jan i would be on plane tomorrow. she is hoping that jim will bounce back. jan doesnt know it at the moment, but i am sure she will soon,as i emaild her daughters and her best friend about jims worsening condition, as i am concerned that she will try to handle this all by herself. she is wanting to call in hospital hospice but due to the holidays, she needs to wiat until tues, i am trying to get her to call Jims regular doctor tomorrow and see if the on call doctor can help her. (jan i i know you either know by now that i emailed your girls and meredith, or you just now found out, but i am worried about you.) please everyone pray and send positive thoughts to jan and to jim, i will advise as i learn more, hugs to all, sharon m -- I am daugher of Leonard, diagnosed May 2004, probably had lbd since 1993,.Dad had a serious fall in 7/05 causing him to hav hip surgery .After that he developed aspiration pneumonia 7/05 with pulmonary embolyis, which he almost died from. He had a 2nd bout of aspiration pneumonia and uti 8/05. He died when his blood pressure fluctuations started dropping without coming back up on 9/25/05, may he rest in peace with his mom and dad, a smile a day keeps the meanies away
Guest guest
I thought the NH can give a referral for Hospice and not just the Doctor. Was I wrong?
Guest guest
Hi Jacqui, Jim is a Kaiser patient. I tried calling Kaiser in the community and they will not come, because we have to use Kaiser Hospice. I called the community Hospice when Jim was living at home and found this out. And then I found out just by calling Hospice directly they won't come without a doctor's request. Jan mamajacqui@... wrote: Jan and Sharon I got Hospice for Mom by calling them direct.
