Guest guest
This is something I've contemplated, but my wife, , is very conventional. It's taken some time to convince her not to consider everything any doctor says as the gospel truth. In her mind, a person with a neurological disease should have a neurologist. Who reads your MRIs? I'm well educated in many fields, but seeing neurological problems on an MRI I truly believe is specialized knowledge. My last general doc., who I respected very much and was well versed on many medical topics (I'm one of those pesky patients that asks MANY " intelligent " , sometimes hard questions), admitted he didn't feel qualified to read a brain MRI. Also, what about if/when you do IV steroids? Who prescribes and administers that? hates them, understandably, but they've pulled her out of an exacerbation every time, 7 times in 9 years, I think. I'm not meaning to sound combative. I'm truly interested in any responses. Neurologists are a different breed in my experiences and the new one may not be a fit for us, either. I would love to be able to convince not to feel the need for a neurologist, and to feel comfortable with the notion myself. They have always been the weak link in 's medical chain. mykittypaws wrote: > Why do you need a neuro at all? For me, they are only MRI orders to > keep me posted on my progress. Guest guest
As for myself, I am fairly asymptomatic right now, and have been all along. I've only had one bad exacerbation, a couple of years ago I lost all feeling below the chest, for about three months, my Neuro at the time did nothing, I have never had to have the IV steroids (TG!!!) The low-key of the two Neuro's is loathe to prescribe them, anyway, he said they cause more problems then they help. I don't know about the horsepoop one, I have the feeling he'll slap an IV into me every chance he gets, which I also don't totally agree with. So it seems they teeter between pro-action and no-action. I think I'll stick with Mr no-action for now, he is the one who would be the Neuro on record, other then that he will continue to do what he has been doing, which is nothing. I'll just space the visits out a bit more....like once a year or so... Guest guest
Oh I am sorry I didn't communicate that so well. I do have one of the best neuros in our area to read my MRI's. He also knows about the LDN and the calcium EAP injections I use. He even admitted one down in a very soft voice he did believe that is why I have done so well. He trusts me or he would have never said that as he is very connected to the industry and is still working in his 80's. He has quite a reputation and I would never betray that trust. He does know some alternative therapies work very well but he cannot go around talking about it so freely or he risks losing everything. Such a shame.
