Hi Aletha My son-in-law has cluster headaches and was taking Imitrex, but a nurse friend suggested he try oxygen. So far this has worked wonderfully. He got an oxygen tank from his friend and when he starts to get a headache, inhales some oxygen and it stops the headache. Maybe this could help your friend. I wish my husband would try it. My husband has had migraine headaches since he was a kid. He has had sinus surgery, tried eliminating food he tested allergic to, tried ice packs, you name it, he's tried it. He takes Imitrex injections (sometimes he has taken 2 in one day and sometimes 3-4 days in a row). It's scary b/c Imitrex can cause all sorts of other problems. His headaches put him in bed, can't stand noise or light or the thought of eating. They are awful. He started taking a preventive med called Depakote. He has to have blood work done before the next script cause I guess the side effects can be terrible too like liver problems etc. It took a whole month but he only had 2 migraines this month. That may be an option, but I like the oxygen idea better. Good luck Arlene
