Guest guest
: I wish you positive thoughts regarding your appointment with the new Rheumy. A good doctor makes all the difference and I have done my share of trying to find a good doctor, whether they are my internist or my Rheumy. After a lot of hits and misses, I finally have a good set of drs working with me. Even though they are not affiliated with each other, they do have a network of communications going between them. Take care and hope all works out for you and personally, I know it will. Jan [ ] Wish Me Luck Hi All, Last week I called my rhemy with aquestion bout my meds. I have been on this mixture at this dosage for about a month now. My swelling is still the same, pain is returning, hands are numb, and meds are making me sick enough to miss an average of 2-3 days of work each week and the shut off notices are stacking up. Basically I wanted to know if I should be seeing some results from this medication that is making me so sick at this point or if possibly its time to try something different. I start back to school this week. After 6 hours the nurse calls me back and says, well Dr. says you need carpal tunnel surgery. I say allright what about the meds. She says well thats all he said you shouldget in touch with your family Dr about the surgery I guess cuz Dr. didnt write anything else in your chart. So I hang up the phone in shock sort of. This Dr not only didnt answer my question but didnt feel the need to notify me that I needed surgery for over three weeks (I had an EMG done at his office Jan 2). It stands to reason he wouldnt have bothered to mention anything at all until my appointment in March. After the shock wore off I got angry how dare this man who is supposed to have my best interest in mind allow me to go on suffering with this condition for even one moment longer than I have to. If I had known about the surgery three weeks ago I may have either already had it done or at least had something scheduled by now. How can a human being be so uncaring. If it was his life or his mothers or sisters or wifes I think thestory wouldplay out a little different. Anyhow on a brighter note a few people pulled some strings and got me an appointment with a new rhemy. I am hoping it works out a little better with the new Dr. soeveryone wish me luck and Ill let you know how it works out. Guest guest
Marina, glad to hear it went well....... hope you begin to feel better soon. kerri sue marina_troi <marina_troi@...> wrote: Well, I had my surgery last night. If I stayed last night, then it would have been another $250. So, I decided to go home. Actually, it was anesthesia that wanted me to stay because of all the medications they gave me. They were just looking after me, my mother hens, so to speak!! It took 3 of them to finally get an IV in me. My veins are still shot from last week. They had to put a new IV in me nearly every day last week because they kept infiltrating (going bad) and my one and only " good " veing is still recovering from phlebitis from last week. Oh well. They finally did get one in, after multiple sticks!! When I said it took 3 people, I ment 3 anesthesiologist. Then one of the nurses tried as well, so I guess that make it 4 people! I think the prednisone has made my veins bad as well as the fact that I was dehydrated. <sigh>>>. Well, my surgeon had told me that my MRI showed fluid buil up in my knee and some synovitis (inflammation of the synovium, the soft tissue surrounding the knee bones) as well as a little wear on the patela which he said is from the RA. But, since it has been getting more and more painful, he said it was time to scope it. Since I hadnt' eaten or drank anything that morning and that I am off owrk util Monday, he said he would try and get me in right away. So, his office called my surgery department and they said that they would make room for me. It's so nice to have friends like that!! So, he did my surgery, and I have to say that it feels so much better, already. I have the usuall surgical pain, but the knife jabbing pain I had all around my knee is gone, so far. I looked at the pictures he took during the surgery and I have to say that it looked worse than what the MRI had said. There was a cartlige tear and some errosion on the lower patela. I also had a lot of inflammation, probably from the RA, in the synovium and he shaved that done a little, as well. I need to call his office today to go in for a dressing change. I also need to get my return to work release from him, as well. I'm not looking forward to go there in the snow. Hopefully the roads have been cleared off. I need to fill my prescription, as well. Yes, I have someone to drive me. His office is over 40 miles away, but since his nurse will be changing the dressing, I'm hoping they will let me go to the office that's 30 miles away. Thank you for the prayers and voiced concern. I truely do appreciate it so much. I am so blessed to have friends and family like you. Thanks again........Gentle hugs to all, Marina
Guest guest
Glad everything went well for you. I was wondering this morning how things went for you. Be carefull out there in the snow, don't fall. We had another couple of inches of snow last night, although my brother-in-law cleaned my car off for me, I think I will just stay put. in WI marina_troi <marina_troi@...> wrote: Well, I had my surgery last night. So far my knee has been doing better. Still running temps, though. My rehumy did some lab work to make sure that the antibiotics I am on is still doing the job. Guest guest
It makes all the difference in the world!! My rheumy is keeping after me, though, doing all the lab work to make sure the antibiotics are being effective. I have to say, though, after the last few weeks, I don't think I'm gonna have any blood left in me!! So far it would seem that my knee is doing better. It still hurts, but it is mostly surgical pain and not the knife in the joint kind of pain I had before. Thanks......Marina > > > June, the people I work with would have to argue the point of how nice > > I am!! LOL But thank you. Yes, I do feel better. So far my knee has > > been doing better. Guest guest
I placed a call to my Neurologist today to have her write me a prescription for LDN. A couple week ago she told me she'd consider it if I really wanted to try it. Hopefully she'll follow through. I also talked with Irmat Pharmacy in NY and gave them my info. Turns out there's a $50 co-pay through my insurance company (Ouch!) It's cheaper not to pay out of pocket. $35.50 for (30) 3 MG capsules. Wish me luck! Guest guest
, I go through Irmat also to obtain my husbands LDN. They have done a very good job and we are very happy with them. But I just wanted to let you know that if you order from Skips in Florida it is about half the cost. He only uses one type of filler and that I think is his only draw back. Guest guest
, As I am seeing a rheumy also and have had experiences with a bad one I wish you the best of luck ( they suspect I have RA since my RA Factor is positive and sed. rate is elevated but can't confirm the diagnosis since my Anti-ccp didn't indicate RA). It's so rough when you aren't feeling well and having trouble finding out what the problem really is. Cheryl
