Guest guest
Hi Rae, My spelling is worse than that, my spell check sometimes cannot even find a match to what I come up with. I worked like the dickens to try and learn to spell correctly. Finally to stop feeling embarrassed I just embraced it and found ways around it. In the end it is what we are trying to say that is most important. The only people that get really upset I find are the really good spellers because they don't seem to understand why others have problems with it. Somehow they think it is laziness on the part of the bad speller. Not to be negative or anything like that, it just seems to be the case. Thank you for letting me know that you were just joking around and poking fun. I always appreciate your input and friendship. Guest guest
Just to add a few words and no more because this is completely off topic. I've always been excellent with spelling because I have a mind for it. I've known a number of brilliant people who were horrific spellers. It wasn't because they were lazy, ignorant or uneducated. Their minds just weren't wired for it. Aletha Wittmann wrote: > Hi Rae, > > My spelling is worse than that, my spell check sometimes cannot even > find a match to what I come up with. Guest guest
Who was it--- Mark Twain, ?, H.L Mencken---certainly Shakespeare---who wrote that he felt sorrow for the man (or woman) who knows only one way to spell a word? How dull and pedantic!! Go for it and Webster be damned! The book everyone resents! For all free spirits everywhere. Guest guest
Hi Shirley Just out of interest did you correct your students spelling mistakes and encourage the use of dictionaries Etc or was that not seen as being important ?
