Ask her if you can try LDN for 6 months and if you see no benefit, you'll then go on Copaxone. Did you send her the info to read? My neuro said at such a low dose it can't hurt you. Guest guest
, most of us have been there. We totally understand. Why don't you ask her if you can just give it a 3 month trial and then you could try what she thinks is best. If not then you can switch to copaxone and take it along with LDN. Personally I would just get the Avonex out of my system and go on LDN. If you call Skips in Florida maybe he can assist you in finding a doctor that will prescribe LDN in your area. If not there is always the phone consult with Dr. Bihari's office. It is $500. but it was the best money I have every spent in my life. I would gladly do it again and even pay much more if I needed. But that is us, and we were just so lucky to get such great results. Where are you located? Aletha [low dose naltrexone] Re: Wish me Luck Update > No go on the script for LDN. Guest guest
Aletha, I'm in Massachusetts. Right on the Massachusetts/New Hampshire State Line, so I could go to either state. However my insurance is pretty picky about seeing doctors in MA and not in NH. I tried to convince her to let me try it. She prescribed LDN one patient who started to progress faster. I think that's why she's hesitant to write the prescription. But she praised Copaxone and told me a lot of her patients are doing well on Copaxone. But that's what they all say. Guest guest
Hi , I am in California but part of my family is from Brockton and my husband is from New Jersey. If that really happened to the other patient then I understand why the doctor is so hesitant. I would be too under those circumstances. My husband has done so well that is hard for me to not want to push others into just giving LDN a try. There are some real miracles out there, and then there are a lot who do much better than they did on the Crab meds, and of course there are some that it just does not seem to help. I don't think I have heard of anyone that hung in there past the first couple of months and worked the beginning stuff out, that had actually progressed faster. The only thing that I can think of is that they may have had a reversal of symptoms which happens sometimes but works through and goes away and they just did not have the support and suggestions and experience to know what to do. (altering the dosage, checking on the type of filler, making sure it was quick release filler, having a log enough trial to get through the beginning stuff). About 7 weeks ago my husband had received an e-mail from a friend of his from childhood that had wanted to share a story about his own sister with MS. He said you would not believe it but she has been getting out of a wheel chair more and more each day due to this new medication and with physical therapy. She has had MS over 20 years. He wanted to know about it because he might want to get on it too. We were so surprised and happy when he said it was Naltrexone. Of course we quickly e-mailed him back and said was already on it and doing great. .... So my thought here is that even if you do not have a miracle would it not be best to just give it a try in case it is also the right thing for you? You just won't know until you try. If you would like 's e-mail just let me know and I will ask her if she minds being contacted. She is very nice and I am sure she would not mind. By the way, one problem that I have noticed a few times is that it can be harder to adjust to LDN at the beginning if you don't have Avonex out of your system first. Copaxone does not seem to interfere with LDN however, so if you feel better switching over to Copxone with the doctor and waiting a while to get the Avonex out of your system and when you can find someone else to prescribe LDN then add that to the regiment maybe that would be a good avenue for you. My best Aletha [low dose naltrexone] Re: Wish me Luck Update >> >> >> > No go on the script for LDN. She won't write the script. Guest guest
Aletha, Thanks for the advice. I was hoping not to take any of the injectable medications. I think I'll call my GP on Monday and talk to him about it. Do you think I should send him some info or just talk to him about it? Guest guest
Arlene, I probably didn't argue my point as much as I should have. I'm kind of a non confrontational guy. Maybe I should give it the weekend to think about it then call her back and tell her I don't want to try Copaxone, that I want to try LDN first, if it doesn't work I switch to Copaxone. I guess the problem that I'm having is " who am I to tell my doctor what to prescribe. " Or, maybe I should call my GP and see if he'll prescribe it. Guest guest
, I have always been that way too until my husband got sick. I decided that we had to take control of his health. I think that maybe it should read more like "who is the doctor that should say you should have no input as to what you would like to try when wishing to heal your own body" We all should have more say over our own health. Guest guest
nne, I'm sorry but I can't, I wish did know someone. I tried to have a prescription filled today by my neurologist in MA and she said no. I plan on asking my GP, to see if he'll do it. I'm just really starting to research who in MA or NH will prescribe LDN. If I find out anything I'll let you know. I'm hoping someone else on the list might know. I'll keep you posted. Guest guest
At one time Dr. Weeks was on the chat site obtaining first hand info from us on how we were doing with LDN, what to expect and what works and what does not etc. Once he gained enough knowledge he went on to prescribe to his patients. He liked the results they were having. He understood our difficulties in getting prescriptions filled. He said he would consider doing phone consults if he has enough info to do a through picture of his patients. I think he said he charges $300/and then $150 for follow ups.
