Guest guest
I just saw the post where it mentions that you should report to your doctor immediately if you are having hostile/angry feelings on Elavil. Being a night owl and knowing the pharmacist on duty, I just called to ask him about this, given that I am on an anti-depressant (Wellbutrin) and am having these mood swings. (And I happened to read the post just as I was taking my bedtime medications, which include my anti-depressant--*groan*.) He said that you should call your doctor if you are on ANY anti-depressant and have that symptom. However, he also said that it is extremely RARE that one would develop those side effects after using the medication over a period of time. Side effects such as those listed almost always occur when treatment is initiated. He also stressed that one should never stop an anti-depressant medication without talking to their doctor as that can be dangerous. Many of them need to be stopped slowly. I just didn't want anyone to worry like I did and think they should immediately stop their anti-depressant. The pharmacist suggested that I call my doctor on Monday (or call his answering service tonight if I was very worried), but that in his experience, that type of problem RARELY starts during the middle of treatment.
