Guest guest
I have been a member of this group since it was founded. I do not post much as I have been very ill. I do read and try to help when I can. I wanted to let you know that I will be finally have my VP shunt replaced on Aug. 14th at Duke University. It has been a long road. It started in 2008, in Rhode Island, when I was having problems. I found a great neuro there that thought my shunt was overdraining. But my husband lost his job right before and we had to move back to North Carolina. To make a long story short......I went to UNC and they did a shunt series and messed it up and told me everything was okay. I knew it was not as if I laid down my headaches would go away. So I got into Duke. The neuro there told me that the pump was refilling slowly but he thought it was okay. I have been getting worse and worse. I have started falling and my vision is getting bad again. So I made an urgent appointment with neuro. He finally ordered a nuclear shunt series and it showed that the shunt is overdraining and there are problems with the lower end also. So hopefully after next Tuesday I will be getting some relief from these horrible headaches and I will stop falling. I want to thank Kathleen and the moderators for all the hard work they do here to help all of us. Hopefully when I feel better I can help others here.
