Guest guest
Hello Dear colleagues ! I am a 15 years experience PT. Due to the last changes in the Industry I was forced to make some changes. Anyway, a local LTC with NH, Assisted Living and In-Home Services hired me as COMPLIANCE OFFICER, due to my clinical and managerial experience they thought it was a very effective combination to be the CCO, to evaluate policies, regs., audit, close communication with the CEO, CFO, Board of Directors. Well, it's a good experience, I do it 32 hrs./week and the rest of the time I do PT for another Provider...Maybe is a new field that we can develop...specially today, that we have to " think different " , keep our skills and pay our bills...Maybe is an idea for my colleagues to promote and to create the need...Good luck and God bless our profession ! Guest guest
Sam et al, I have been the corporate compliance officer for our hospital district for over a year. It has been quite challenging--and rewarding. I agree that PTs may be good candidates for this job, and discussed this option at an educational session on compliance just presented at APTA 2000 in Indy with my colleague, Lane, who also works in the compliance field. I would be happy to answer questions from others who may have the opportunity to travel this path. Feel free to contact me directly. Ann M.
