Guest guest
I have a question. I have a female patient who is in early 40's, who has a family hx of Parkinson's, and may have early symptoms. This patient has over the last 6 months experienced 2-3 episodes of falling and not being able to respond with upper extremities to break fall. She described it as if breaking her fall was not even something she could do. I questioned her about rigidity and she denied any of that. She has said gait pattern has been identified by family members as looking different. She also described some of the feelings that are consistent with progressively increasing speed of gait to the point it is out of control. My question, are there any tests that this patient can have that could confirm this? I recommended that she perform exercises that are designed to improve flexibility, trunk stability, and strength. I will see her again in two weeks, if anyone has suggestions please respond, and thank you in advance.
