Guest guest Posted January 18, 2012 Report Share Posted January 18, 2012 Um, whoever told you that about oil harvesting was pulling your leg. To get oil they kill the birds and render the fat. There was an emu farm here. I met the owner and she said her emu oil was very sought after because she rendered the whole bird for oil instead of just the greasier parts (the rest being sold for meat, which hardly anyone bought--I only ever once saw it in our stores). But I'm with Jane--why on earth use something that takes a life when you can use many healing plant based oils. In fact, jojoba oil is very close to our skin's make-up, so a very good skin conditioner and carrier.
