Guest guest
I've been reading with interest all the discussion about chewing and swallowing. Aubrie has amazed me in the past 2 weeks. She suddenly decided she'd rather not have baby food but prefers something she can bite and chew. She's eating fish sticks, breads, crackers, hash browns, sloppy joe, breakfast bars, spagetti, canned fruit... It's amazing! The quantities are small. Sometimes I let her hold and bite it but sometimes I give her bits off my finger. Even when she bites and takes too big of a bite, she can manage it by spitting some out or chewing it up. I don't know what has happened but it is remarkable! To top it off, she's taking more formula too. Used to be that she'd drink 0-1 oz at each meal. Now I've stopped using the volufeeder (the 2 oz graduated tube-shaped bottle from the hospital) and we've gone to a regular 2.5 oz bottle. Sometimes I even have to refill it! I've got handles for the bottle and she's even trying to hold it herself. She's also taken off in large motor skills. She's sitting unassisted better every day and trying extremely hard to pull herself to a sit. We're also working on standing. Crawling doesn't seem like it's gonna happen so I think we're gonna skip it for now and see how it goes. She's getting herself on her stomach and up on her elbows to look around but doesn't stay there very long. I think if I just leave her to it, she's gonna get it all figured out in time. She's alone in the other room now trying to figure out how to get the stuff on the coffee table. Soon we'll be baby-proofing... I don't know what has happened but it is remarkable! Michele, Wow, you lucky, lucky person. You've all been talking about having to hold down our *weakling* children to have procedures done, as they suddenly develop the strength of hercules (Cady too), well, whenever I attempt to put anything resembling unmashed food, into Cady's mouth, her tongue suddenly develops this strength as well!! Drives me nuts. I end up yelling " OPEN " . She does this then the tongue really starts to work!! I guess this is really going to take some time. I've only been working on it for about 7 years! I will not be beaten. Tiena Mum to Mikaela (11), Cady (CHaRgE 9) and Paige (7) Brisbane, Australia PS: Do they have to vomit (sorry) to have reflux? Guest guest
Michele, What a great report on Aubrie. Makes you wonder why you were so down the other day. I understand though. I'm having a DOWN day, but nobody knows what tomorrow will bring. Foley
Guest guest
WELL DONE AUBREY!!!! You must be so pleased Michele. It's wonderful when you see loads of positive action.
