Lupus and Yeast Infections

Lupus patients are at an unusually high risk for contracting candida (yeast)

infections.

To treat lupus, most patients begin a regimen of the drug, Prednisone.

Prednisone raises the body's sugar level, and sugar is what yeast needs

to grow.

To help your body cope with yeast infections:

Taking the drug Diflucan can help.. if you have a major case of candida

(vaginal, mouth, and throat), 2 weeks worth of Diflucan is the normal course

of therapy.

Cut out or only eat is minimal amounts anything containing sugar.

Pastas, tomatoes, onions, potatoes are a few food items with "hidden sugars".

Remember .. yeast needs sugar to grow.

So if you are diabetic, keep your sugar level under tight control. Limit

your sugar and starchy foods .. cut out any food with processed sugar.

This includes sodas as well. Drinking diet sodas are not recommended either.

Studies have shown that aspartame (fake sugar such as Nutra Sweet) when

taken in large amounts (3 diet sodas a day), will give the patient lupus

like symptoms. These symptoms disappear after weaning off the sodas.

If you are suffering from yeast in the mouth, or vaginally. ICE it!

Yeast grows well in damp warm places (such as the vagina and the mouth),

so sucking on ice will help .. even if it only numbs the pain a bit rather

than just coming and getting in.

Take care..
