Guest guest
I use my E in Olive Oil from WIP (womensinternationpharmacy.com). Hi, I am fairly new to this group and have been very confused by what everyone is doing. The person I have been working with took a saliva test of my hormones, Estrogen/Progesterone/Testesterone/DHEA and then perscribed suppositories, a vaginal cream and little tabs to take orally in the morning and night. At first I started having my old excruiating period cramps and started spotting, which I was not happy about so she adjusted the dose and the bleeding stopped. However, in about a year's time my uterine lining grew from 2 mm to 11mm. I had a biopsy done which was normal and then a camera searched for cancer in my uterus and none was seen. I am currently not on anything and have experienced some night sweats a few times so far. I am not sure what to do. I spoke to the doc and she said that the lining is normal for a 40 yr. old but it seems to me that a 40 yr old sheds her lining monthly. What are the dangers of having a thick lining and not sheding it? I am in total confusion.
Guest guest
We need to know more. What are the suppositories? What about the vaginal cream? What are the "little tabs?" The endometrium tends to thicken when inadequate progesterone is taken to cause a shed. Initially I did start bleeding, which I was unhappy about since it was accompanied by severe cramps. It never crossed my mind that there would be any bleeding. The doses were adjusted and the bleeding stopped and a year later the lining of my uterus was thick enough to cause some concern. What is meant by "inadequate" progesterone? It is necessary to have a bleed when doing BHRT? Thanks.
Guest guest
If you take continual progesterone (like Prometrium 100 mg orally) every day, that should stop any hyperplasia from developing. If you don't wish to take it daily (as I don't), then you need to use it periodically (generally monthly but that is a subject for debate) for 10-12 days at 200 mg oral to cause a shed. Alternatively, you can use vaginal progesterone (45-50 mg) for 10-12 days/month. Those statements assume you are using exogenous estrogen. If you don't use estrogen, it is not necessary to use progesterone nor to have a periodic shed. Simply, if you have a uterus, and choose to use estrogen, then you must use enough progesterone in the correct form to stop any hyperplasia from developing, or you must shed it periodically.
