Training Commitments

I see the problem with dispatchers leaving after a short time to pursue

other goals. I have trained many and suffered though many short staffed

periods. That said I can tell you also I would never work for a

department that would make me make that kind of commitment or make me

repay my training if I left early. What if I could not handle the job

or there was serious mismanagement or corruption? Hard to tell when

taking an interview wouldn't you agree? I think it is servitude and

would never even apply to your job opening if that was a requirement.

I say make the best of them and make them a better peace officer for

having been to your center and try to get them back as officers as the

CHP Monterey does!(Olmstead's post)

Also why keep someone who did not want to be there? I thing dispatch is

a great stepping stone. I have stayed in the business but none of my

original team has.

PS I remember the computer cards too, but not old as a tree.
