Guest guest
Saw this in my hometown newspaper today ... for those of you who are interested. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------ ---- LAKE MARY - City officials in Durham, NC said they plan to sue a Florida company for missing a deadline last week to fix more than $1 million worth of mobile laptop computers installed in the city's police cars and fire trucks. Pedersen, assistant city manager, said HTE Corp. of Lake , FL, the contractor responsible for the mostly inoperable computer network, was making progress but the deadline was Friday. " They were told there would be consequences - us initiating legal actions - if the deadlines were not met, " Pedersen said. " Our goal is to get this project completed. " Durham police never could get the computers to do the things other police agencies could do from their patrol cars. When they made a traffic stop, they couldn't determine whether the driver had a record or was wanted. They also couldn't write traffic reports. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------ ---- Never used HTE products, so I can't add any information. Thought it might be useful for those agencies fixing to buy a new CAD. This was in the Florida Today newspaper, published in Melbourne, FL.
