Those who have cirrhosis should check into seeing about taking care of their dental, eye, hygiene, and vaccinations. With dental work, be sure to ask the doctor if you should have an antibiotic to take before you have your teeth cleaned or need work done. There are vaccinations, such as flu shots and pneumovac that you might need. However, the doctor may want to be sure that you receive these during good periods in your health. Some people have trouble with diabetes before transplant, some have it afterwards. However, this disease and also diabetes can cause a problem in the eyes. Talk to your doctor and see when it would be good to have your eyes checked, so you can set up an appointment with your eye doctor.
Guest guest
Also, Bad teeth or gums are a contraindication for a liver transplant. They will make you wait, and possibly put you on the inactive list untill the infected gums are cleared up. I am very worried about this, and take special care to see my dentist every 4 to 6 months to make sure my gums are in transplant shape. Just in case. long life, old age, everything good-Apache prayer ________________________________ From: abijann <no_reply > To: livercirrhosissupport Sent: Sunday, December 21, 2008 9:28:34 PM Subject: Somethings to remember for those who are sick Bob brought up a very good point.
