Guest guest
i just wanted to send an update on what we are seeing here on day 8 of valtrex. we increased dosage from 250 mg. twice a day to three times a day yesterday. his " down " time came much earlier with the black circles around his eyes, mouth rash, low grade fever and seizure increase. he is also a big mess of what appears to be an all over eczema outbreak. is it odd that most of the symptoms are only occurring in the evening? a few behavioral observations from the last few days: 1) twice now he has brought his father's jacket to him in what appears to be an attempt to get him to take him outside 2) he is smiling more and also smiling at his sister and responding to her occasionally 3) he seems to be responding more quickly to his name 4) he played ball with his sister last night for a couple minutes 5) last night, he got up in the middle of the night, went to the kitchen, got his cup and brought it to his dad because he wanted some water my only concern at this point is the seizure increase - we don't like it. he is often affected this way when ill, so i wonder if this is just another viral response? has anybody had any experiences with using valtrex and seizures? our guy has short, but frequent, absence seizures. we believe his seizures are due to inflammation from viral issues, gut issues and extreme mercury toxicity and we are just trying to chip away at these issues (it's so hard to be patient). he is on meds, but they don't really make much difference. thanks, jennie > > > > our boy started on valtrex about 6 days ago (he is 3). our DAN! is > > having us start at 250mg twice a day and then increase to 3 times a > > day after a week. after a couple days, he started to develop a red, > > kinda dry/chapped look on his cheeks, close to his mouth. then he > > developed a rash at the base of his neck, between his shoulder blades. > > it all culminated last night when he had a slight increase in > > seizures, one of his eyes looked like he had been punched, the red, > > dry area got much worse, he fell asleep early and started sweating out > > through his head. he's not a great sweater, so this was noticeable to > > us. today he is back to baseline - even the dry, chapped look is > > gone. does this sound like he may be a valtrex responder? and, if > > so, should we continue with our plan to increase to the full dosage in > > the morning? > > > > thanks for any input > > jennie > > >
