Guest guest
My sense is that you should be on enough Diflucan long enough to feel that you've got yeast under control. For us we were on a week and it was not enough. We started Valtrex, had to stop after 3 days and regroup and increase antifungal slowly then add Valtrex slowly and work up to 1000. We dose out the Valtrex 250-500-250 morning afternoon evening, we give antifungals at bed time, probiotics in the morning. It's a constant struggle for balance in the beginning, watch closely and tackle yeast flairs right away. The diet component is big. Do your best to remove carbs and sugar and you'll have a better shot at success. Good luck! > > Hi all, > My son is about to start the Diflucan/valtrex combo. we have been > chealting for 2 months and it seems we have a small yeast flare up. > The doctor started him on diflucan and she is out of the country for 3 > weeks...........so I wanted to know how long were people on diflucan > to kill yeast before starting the Valtrex treatment. Guest guest
, Oh, I think I got things mixed up. I thought you had to be on diflucan and valtrex at the same time.i.e you had to give for instance 250mg of valtrex 3 times a day plus say 50mg of diflucan also three times a day. Howver from my understnading now , you give lets say 250mg of valtrex three times a day and antifungal say 50mg at night. Correct ? If the 50mg of Diflucan once a day is not enough, this may need to be increased to 100mg.Is this correct ?? Then, if the yeast is under control, could it be that we can go a few weeks without diflucan (but the valtrex would continue as normal everyday).Have I got it ? Hence, diflucan is only introduced every now and then when the yeast is starting to flare up again. Sorry if this is long winded but I just need to make sure I understand.
