Guest guest
We had chronic constipation. When matters were really bad we used a fleet glycerin enema. Probiotics (VSL #3 Culturell, Prio Bio Gold, and now Perls) High doses of vit C. Vitamin C, when not absorbed systemically, goes into the bowels and acts as a laxative. Too much vit C will cause the runs. --penumbra > > My son went from chronic yeasty mush to chronic constipation, to the > point he was in the hospital this week for 2 days, getting " cleaned > out " . Guest guest
A mom who used to post here recommended this product: http://www.fibermenace.com/store/hydroc.html My dh and 17 yo dd (who is not ASD) have used this product when necessary with great success. I like the fact that you are not adding fiber to acheive results. Guest guest
i give my son 3 tsps. of aloe vera juice every morning and 5 tsps. of it at dinner. he is usually ready for a BM by 6-7pm. i've used magnesium in the past but as someone in the medical profession, it can really mess with electrolytes so i've avoided it. alow vera has been much better, regardless. hth tracey Subject: RE: Need HELP with son's constipation...To: mb12 valtrex Date: Sunday, November 23, 2008, 3:05 PM Milk of Magnesia, aloe vera juice, or Oxypowder. Guest guest
We have always had excellent results using aloe vera capsules. Take one in the evening and bm by morning. Even when my son had severe blockages and nothing else would work, once we found aloe, we never had another problem. Guest guest
Good Morning ,I feel bad for your son and family. I am sending you a link to something we use and it is GREAT. We all use it at time in our house. It is affordable, has no taste, color and is compatible with the diets our kid/families are on. If you can't find it at your local health food, store email at my direct email and I will pick it up for you and ship it to you. It really is great. We no longer have to give our daughter suppositories and many other icky stuff. Guest guest
Just an FYI on Aloe vera, it is a part of the lilly family. If you have a problem w/garlic or onions, you may have one w/aloe. My son had his first anaphylactic reaction a few months ago. The only thing he had ingested was a tiny bit of aloe juice. Then he had 2 more following ingesting hot dogs that have garlic and onion as spices. His allergy tests showed he is allergic to lilly family foods. Guest guest
Hi Robin~Yes~ Cut them up raw, like a shred, as if you were making slaw. (Although there is a video on youtube of a gal making kimchee and she doesn't cut up the cabbage at all! So I'll tell you how I do it.) Do not cook them, this would kill the beneficial bacteria. The " good bugs " will process the cabbage for you.Be careful not to add too much salt.Keep it covered with a clean dry cloth, or a saucer. Don't seal it, it might pop. In very hot weather or if you keep your house really warm, and depending on your veg, it will take a few days, but in cool weather and in a house that is kept cool, it takes longer, and tastes better. You will start to smell it. (You might get complaints.) Then you can place it in the fridge. It will continue to ferment slowly. If the veg floats weight it down with something clean and change it everyday. You want the veg to stay underneath the " juice " or " brine " . (If you don't have any " juice " , you can pound the cabbage until its juicy, or boil some water and lightly salt it, COOL and pour on, but not too much, or your kraut will be too soupy. You DON'T HAVE to do this.) If you see any moldy looking stuff, just scrape it off and discard it. Use clean hands, containers and utensils. (Although in the old days, they had the children get up in the barrel and stomp the cabbage with their bare feet! I don't recommend that, but it sounds like fun!)Please get on the internet and read up on this subject. Join the >Microbial_Nutrition< yahoo group, and learn more. -- Warmest Regards,Robin Little Re: Need HELP with son's constipation... Posted by: " Robin Broyles " rabroyles@... robinbroyles Tue Nov 25, 2008 4:10 pm (PST) I would love to try the fermented vegetables. Do you just cut them up raw, or do you cook them first? Guest guest
Someone else posted about other veg but I can't remember exactly what all they mentioned. Some people add apples, carrots, peppers, garlic, onions, heck I guess you could add about anything. Some people even add meat, fish or shrimp, but I have never done that. I do know carrots cut up real small are good, that's about as adventurous as I have felt like getting. Maybe as I continue to improve I will get more creative with my kraut, and even make kimchee! Just put in what ever your child (or you) are into or can tolerate.-- Warmest Regards,Robin LittleWhat other types of vegies besides making kimchee and sauerkaut? Also I use plum water - I leave plums on water overnight in a jar in the refrigerator and give it to him the following day during the day. > > > > Hi Robin~ > > Yes~ Cut them up raw, like a shred, as if you were making slaw. > (Although > > there is a video on youtube of a gal making kimchee and she doesn't > cut up > > the cabbage at all!
