Guest guest
Ok, we just got our test results back from Restoration Consultants. Although they found nothing like Stachybotrys, there were a few items of note. In our living room , the levels of Penicilium were " fairly high " : sample ct. - 5000 % - 38 cfu/gm - 156,300 also they found some Ulocladium in our entrance way: sample ct. - 100 % - 5 cfu/gm - 9100 Hopefully these numbers mean something to some of you, they don't mean anything to me. The woman who did the testing remarked that the Penicilium and the Ulocladium were the only items that may be of concern. The total CFU/gram fro the house was 406,500 where normal should be 100,000. Again she said it's above normal, but she has seen counts of 20 million or more. The reason we had this testing done in the first place has to do with my chronic fatigue and sinus infections that I developed about 6 months after moving into this house. Noe my question is, what do I do with these results? Are these levels worth pursuing with a doctor? Can anyone recommend a good doctor in the bay area who I could show these results to? Can anyone out there shed some more light on what these numbers mean? --- Rich
Guest guest
RICH: Fairly high means health risks. Don't let anyone minimize the testing results of dangerous fungi conidia, hyphae, or spore, esp., if an ailing immune system is involved. Dr. in your area is one of the best in the world, Dr. Marinkovich, M.D. (Allergy/Immunology)I have met with him and know his work in saving lives. (650) 482-2800. He is a true visionary and a top-flight scientist/professor(Stanford). I strongly suggest a MAST Environmental IgG (for longterm exposure) Panel #15 for you and yours to determine the levels of exposure, if any. Let me know if I can help. Guest guest
The results are indeed elevated, in my opinion. Regardless of the number, it seems like you have a " source " area somewhere. That means the problem will most likely get worse. I would contact somebody that has experience in mold remediation to remove the source area. However if the source area did not reveal itself during the first investigation, I would have another done. Once you have remediated the problem AND corrected the source of moisture the mold levels should return to " normal " I would definitely seek medical help to determine if the mold is making you sick. Depending on what the source of moisture is, it may be covered under your insurance policy.
