Guest guest
, My son had a huge bacterial flare up on Valtrex. We did it early on before DANs were recommending antifungal/antibacterial throughout treatment. Goldenseal was a lifesaver for us. For my son, bacteria comes out in aggression. He is never aggressive otherwise. Hey all, we've only been on the valtrex for 12 days and I am hoping that my son is having a reaction to it. He's had a crusty sort of pink patch of skin next to his mouth for about a week, and a tiny blister like spot on his back for a few days but nothing major, like a big rash. However, his behaviour is just shy of demonic! He is being extremely aggressive (where he is normally quite sweet) and destructive and having major meltdowns, which are usually a rarity. Anybody else have this as a reaction, and if so- when did it start to get better? Thanks for your input!Sara E.
Guest guest
I loved the description " just shy of demonic " ! That's was a pretty accurate description of my son when he first started Valtrex. The first 7 days were a little on the rough side but after day 7 we saw amazing progress. Just be careful of handling the viral die off, yeast, and bacterial issues. Bacteria is a beast for us so I am interested in the Gldenseal suggestion. Very interesting. > > , > > My son had a huge bacterial flare up on Valtrex. Guest guest
, We started with Goldenseal because it was readily available at the health food store but the product our DAN doc recommended (and the one we switched to once it arrived in the mail) was called Berberine Complex. It is offered by Enzymatic Therapies and they have changed the name to Phyto-Biotic. It contains Barberry, Oregon Grape and Goldenseal. This is the most effective antibacterial product in our arsenal. Now we rotate it but I would never be without it. It comes in capsules and if you have to break them, it is yucky tasting but worth it. Guest guest
hi, demonic is the Perfect description of my daughter when we started Valtrex. she was a nightmare. it took a few weeks for things to level out. at school, she was pushing over chairs and pulling things off bulletin boards. plus had extremely intense temper tantrums lasting over an hour where my husband had to " restrain " her to keep her safe from hurting herself. it did get better though over a few weeks. hang in there! > > Subject: RE: Re: Is this a possible Valtrex reaction? > To: mb12 valtrex > Date: Monday, December 1, 2008, 9:09 PM > , > > We started with Goldenseal because it was readily available > at the health > food store but the product our DAN doc recommended (and the > one we switched > to once it arrived in the mail) was called Berberine > Complex.
