My post transplant coordinator called me today to tell me some of my lab test results from yesterday. My hemoglobin has dropped to 11.6, and I will probably have to take my first shot of Procrit next week to keep it up. My hematocrit dropped from 39 last week to 32 yesterday. She said my kidneys are doing well, though, and that sometimes a drop in the hematocrit like that can indicate kidney problems. My white blood cell count is holding steady. When that starts to drop, I'll have to get another shot to keep that up. The treatment is causing my blood counts to drop. My liver numbers have gone down, she said, but I didn't ask her what they were because she woke me up this morning, and I was so tired! This treatment is starting to wipe me out!
