Guest guest
My son has been having EXTREMELY foul, rotten, sweet smelling stool and gas for a few weeks now. There really aren't adequate words to describe it. You can even smell it from his nose and mouth, but not coming from elsewhere on his body. We've ruled out diabetes as a possible cause with blood sugar testing. We have been thinking bacterial overgrowth, because at the time it started he was off of probiotics, antifungals, antibacterial, etc. in preparation for scoping. However, now that he's back on all of these the smell is still here! It lessened immediately after the scope, likely because of the bowel prep and clean out, but now it's back full force. Pretty sure it's not yeast, as we've never experienced this smell with yeast flares in the past. The only other thing I can think if is we also started mB12 injections right around the same time the smell first began. I don't really think the 2 are related, since the smell lessened after the bowel prep, but I thought I should check here befor ruling out mB12 as a possible contributing factor. So, long story short, can mB12 cause horrific smelling stools, gas, and breath? Or can it contribute at all to gut pathogen overgrowth? Thanks, Sheri
