I can't agree more, Karin. I was taking 4mg of E for 2 months and feeling wonderful! Hair was growing back in..things were terrific..then all of a sudden i stopped sleeping at night and started feeling terrible...for the last month i can count the number of nights i've actually slept..and while at it it wasn't a nice restless sleep at all...my SHBG went from 106 to 116...and serum E from 189 up to 214..and estrone was through the roof..and i felt terribly..well, i finally decreased E first down to 3mg and now down to 2.7mg (0.137 patches)..and even though my skin isn't as good as with the higher E, i can sleep at night again..in fact i slept over 10 hrs last night...so i totally agree with receptors getting overwhelmed concept.bigbird3099 wrote: Just a thought again. think you know what your body is actually using or doing w/those hormones. If you are using too much E I think that you can down regulate your receptors. Maybe a break for a week or adjusting downward will get things into sync again. I will just use my husband as an example, he uses T and his last tests showed it in the 800 range but his E also went up. Even at this high level he did not feel as well as when he first started. The Dr basically told him the E was blunting the T and that every once and a while to take a bit of a break and also he reduced his dose and is taking it 2x per week. He is also taking SHBG into the equation. I remember reading Uzzi Reiss' book and he also says that if the SHBG is too high you need to back down on the E.With the last month that I have had (heavy bleeding taking no E and only P for over a week) I know that this might make some sense for me also. I was taking high E and no P (thus the thick uterine

lining). I am finished w/the P for the month and I am only taking .05mg patch with 1 mg transdermal E per day and I am sleeping like the dead. I really think the high E blunted alot of my T (hence the nice hair and very little acne) but it also did some damage in other areas. So again for now I think I will take E in smaller amounts and do the vag P every month and maybe once in a while take a small break in the E (a day or 2 during my period)Karin

good point Karin to keep SHBG levels in mind when upping your E! thanks for the reminder. madeleenbigbird3099 wrote: Just a thought again. Hi ,

That is the strangest thing of all I did not have any hair loss on the week w/no

E and

taking only P (vaginal and oral). I really get hair loss(immediately) w/the

transdermal P.

I felt really depressed and the joints hurt, but I did not get that androgen

surge like I

would have expected. Weird. Hopefully I have reset the receptors and can take

smaller

amounts of E with some vaginal P from here on.

this is very good news, Karin! i am crossing my fingers for you! we're very much in a similar boat, as both you and me had to stop higher E...i literally haven't slept in over 5 weeks..and even now when i go to 3mg of E i can't sleep..i can on 2.5....and since decreasing my E 2 weeks ago i was really really really worried about my hair..it's 4.5 weeks before my wedding!!! So thank you for re-assurance! -bigbird3099 wrote: Hi ,That is the strangest thing of all I did not have any hair loss on the week w/no E and taking only P (vaginal and oral).
