Guest guest
Hi Vicky, we are just starting to use HBOT, can you share some more your experience with me? We are also targetting with WH questions, she has some already with Where? What? She is 8years old now. How old is your child? How often do you do soft HBOT? At what ATA? Do you take a break when reach 40sessions? thank you so much for your further sharing. Guest guest
Vicky, I wonder if the meds you started increased the effectiveness of the HBOT? I think that was our experience. I was told that the more frequent the HBOT treatments where, the more his gains we would see (both my kids went through it) so we had them take 2 dives a day (must be 4 hrs apart). I don't think taking a break would hurt but I also don't think you will necessarily see substantial gains from it either (that is a guess). My son benefitted from HBOT more than my daughter did but he had farther to go, too. (Aspergers, 19 yrs old.) People are always talking about how important it is to make gains while their child is small and, while I agree with that, I have seen SUBSTANTIAL improvement with my kids, 15 and 19, with these biomedical treatments. My son actually has a future now. That is not small. My daughter can actually do her homework without an aid anymore. She wants to go to college as that was questionable before. Sorry for the rant. Guest guest
Hi Corinna We are doing soft chamber at 1.3 ATA. We did not stop after 40 hours. Our DAN! recommended 60 hours in the first month, tapering off to 40-45 the second month. We started at 1.5 hour sessions for the first 2 weeks and then increased it to 2 hour sessions. We did this 6 days a week for the first month and are now down to 4-5. Our son will be 5 next month. We go into the chamber and bedtime with a movie. He is generally happy to get in and typically falls asleep! We did experience about a week of aggression and trantrums (something that had subsided a long time ago!) about two weeks into HBOT. We increased his enzymes and added Grape Seed Extract. It was after this really tough week, that we began to notice the language gains! Since then, it's been pretty smooth sailing. I'm nervous about taking a break...but his language has also improved so much that he is telling us " I want to stop chamber! "
Guest guest
Hi Sally I'm so happy that your children benefited from HBOT and other biomedical interventions! I'm so thankful that there are DAN!s and parents out there to help use sort thru autism puzzle regardless of the age of the child. Never lose hope! I do think that the HBOT complimented my son's anti-virals meds. It sounds like it would do the same if we go back to chelation. For now, we are going to enjoy the holidays and pray that he continues to make improvements. However, we will jump back into HBOT if there are any signs of regression. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with me/us! Vicky

Guest guest
We rented a chamber & our 6-year old son went in it one time; while he was in there, he freaked out because the chamber pressurized too fast & was screaming & crying to get out since the pressure hurt his ears. His dad was in it with him.  We couldn't get him out immediately, of course, because you have to wait 3 minutes for it to de-pressurize.  As you can imagine, 3 minutes was an eternity to watch him holding his ears & screaming & sweating (it's extremely HOT in there since they are like being inside a giant raft) and clawing to get out.  We were able to get a refund for the chamber, but still had to pay $600 shipping. I am sharing this with you because we thought he would go in it no problem & it ended up being a taxing assumption.  So I would recommend finding a chamber to try-out 1st, if possible.  I wanted this to work for our son so badly; I was so disappointed that he could not do this therapy.  I do think that HBOT is a great tool for recovery.  One more thing - we rented the largest "Vitara" available & I personally think it is still too small, too dark (not enough windows/light coming in) and uncomfortably hot.  My husband is an average-size man - there was no way he could sit-up comfortably in it, as claimed.  If we were to try it again, I would seek out one of those tent-like chambers where you can sit up comfortably, not a tube.  From:  To: mb12 valtrex Sent: Friday, November 28, 2008 2:14:27 AMSubject: Re: HBOT - To Continue or Not to Continue!? Guest guest
Hi Our DAN! also suggested that if we could manage it, try to do two sessions a day. To be honest, we couldn't fit it in. It's a big chunk of time out of my son's already fully-loaded days. So we made the decision to do once a day for two hours at bedtime (we started at 1.5), realizing that it may take longer for us to see gains. It is a financial sacrifice and I pray that some day insurance will begin to cover these treatments. Where are you getting your soft chamber from? Or will you go into a doctor's office? Please keep me posted. > > Hello, > I am thinking of doing HBOT for my son. Guest guest
We own a chamber and we did 2 60 min dives a day for a month. Then we took 2 weeks off. Since then we strive to get him in 1x a day, but this doesn't always happen. So if you can find it in your energy and schedule to make the sacrifice for one month it may pay off. I guess what I'm trying to express is that it was crazy hard to get him in 2x a day, but it's not forever. > > > > Hello, > > I am thinking of doing HBOT for my son. Guest guest
Our largest chamber is 40 " in diameter, and it's big enough for adults to sit up inside of it. We carry two devices for children who have problems clearing their ears - the Equalizer, which clears the ears naturally with air, and special ear plugs for use in portable hyperbaric chambers. I'm surprised that the company that you rented your chamber from did not provide you with information on these products. Guest guest
Marissa, I’m sorry you had such a terrible experience with the hbot. Were you trained on the usage of the chamber before renting it, because unfortunately it really doesn’t sound like anyone told you what to do – which is terrible, because clearly what happened to you should not have happened. I cannot imagine what it was like for you watching that, I am so sorry! When you compress and especially the first time you compress, you need to do it slowly, so you give the child’s ears enough time to adjust to the pressure. In addition, you should have had your son drinking and eating while it was pressurizing. At the onset of his ear pain, you should have released the valve at least two turns until his pain subsided and then slowly repressurized. Also, you do need to keep the room cool when using the chamber or have the cooler along with it which cools the air before it is blown into the chamber. The cooler makes a huge difference in the temperature in there. It’s odd to me that your vitaeris was dark inside, we have the same one and don’t find it dark at all. It could be because we have overhead lighting which seems to do a great job at keeping it lit inside. And both my husband and I, who are not small people, have no problem with the sitting up in there comfortably. If your rental place provided no instruction on how to deal with ear pain and what to do regarding compression/decompression, I’d push for a refund on the shipping as well. Guest guest
Upon prssurization, we turn it off for 1-2 minutes 3 or so times upon complete pressurization to give a little break to our child. We also take a battery plastic fan inside that helps when it gets hot and stuffy. We take a few pillows books & toys even a reading light. And put a overhead lamp if needed over top of oxygen chamber. I think, You are giving up too easy, in my opinion. I hope you look for solutions. and re-consider. > From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ] On > Behalf Of Marisa Vogel > Sent: Friday, November 28, 2008 10:04 AM > To: mb12 valtrex > Subject: Re: HBOT - To Continue or Not to Continue!? > > > > We rented a chamber & our 6-year old son went in it one time; while he was > in there, he freaked out because the chamber pressurized too fast & was > screaming & crying to get out since the pressure hurt his ears.
