Guest guest
We just finished 1 month of acyclovir and have had some big improvements in speech and really just overall the most improvement we have seen so far doing biomed. He is immune deficient and our DAN said this may be a result of chronic viral overload/infection. My question is would 1 month get rid of or supress the viruses enough for his immune system to repair itself? I was thinking he would be on it longer and when we were walking out she told us to just finish the bottle that she didn't want him to be on it long term. We did draw blood to check his immune system again but won't get the results for a month. Is it a long term therpy or a one moth fix? Thanks for your input, I plan on calling our Dr tomorrow to discuss it I was just wondering how many have used it and how long? Thanks so much!! Guest guest
one month is not enough. keep going until you stop seeing any new gains, and then keep going for at least a month or so (after any gains have stopped coming) and then watch for any small regressions and put him back on it if they happen. natasa > > We just finished 1 month of acyclovir and have had some big > improvements in speech and really just overall the most improvement we > have seen so far doing biomed. Guest guest
My son was on Valtrex for about 15-18 months with regular monthly blood draws to check liver function. He did well on it and it really helped because he was a very viral kid. We did a lot to support the liver - I use introcell from Our Kids ASD - it's a good liver support. Hope this helps! Good luck! Guest guest
Why does it take one month to get blood results back? Just curious and fairly new at this? It's my understanding during research that long term use of acyclovir means liver function needs to be closely monitored. My doc wants us to do a 6 week trial and if there are no improvements we are to stop. I'm assuming that means anything beyond 6 weeks would cause her to want to monitor our daughter's functions. Congrats on the gains! We have been doing it for about a week and a half with nothing so far.
Guest guest
We drew like 5 or 6 different blood tests and we are supposed to collect a 3 day stool specimen and it will take close to a month to process all of those. Plus she only sees us once a month because we are driving 2 1/2 hrs to get there. We never discussed how long when she started it because I was just so darn excited about it. I'm glad to hear I wasn't crazy for thinking he may need it longer. > > Why does it take one month to get blood results back? Guest guest
Antivirals is not a short term therapy. I would run in the other direction from a dr. that would consider 1 month sufficient as this can cause viral mutation. This is *not* a "one month fix". If it were me, I would also want to make sure the dosage is correct given that she thinks 1 month is enough time on antivirals. I would want to make sure she isn't underdosing on top of doing it in much too short a time. If she knew anything about chronic latent viral infections, she would know that you can't treat it in 1 month.Just my .02¢.
