My ENT doc is a believer in PANDAS (some aren't) and Pfapa (periodic fever syndrome). The recent fevers are probably more related to the anti-virals stirring things up. But he's already had three cases of strep this year and when he gets strep he's so miserable and he can get it without symptoms. My concern is doing this during the anti-viral/anti-fungal treatment but both doctor and I feel the tonsils are no good. Guest guest
Yes, we did some (And I have been taking a lot lately with OoO). The strep panel came back " very normal " per pediatrician. I just feel the tonsils could be a part of what's holding the viruses for him if that makes any sense. When they are swollen he hardly has any room to breathe. When he talks sometimes it sounds like he has swollen tonsils half the time. He had several cases of non-strep tonsililitis as a todddler. They should have come out a while ago it seems. It's just a tough recovery for a kid going through massive die-off but I feel like he could be better off in the long run, especially if they are " bad " tonsils. Guest guest
Are you talking about help for the die-off or the tonsils? I get the results from Alletess (184 IgG) this week but he has IgE milk allergy. I got additional IgE tests done in addition to the pediatric 12 IgE. I know he has IgG wheat sensitivity from a single test my DAN did then. > > > > have you tried OLE treatments with it > > > > Recovering from Autism is a marathon > > NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! > > Read more about it on my BLOGs at > > http://www.myspace.com/christelking > > http://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwishes > > http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 > > > > tonsils and adenoid removal - this Friday > > > > > > Hi - Anyone have their child's tonsils/adenoids removed because > of > > recurrent fevers and strep? Guest guest
My 5 y.o. had his removed a year and a half ago due to severe sleep apnea, mouth breathing, constant upper respiratory infections and chewing up his food and spitting it out. The surgery was successful and solved all three of these issues. Recently, he had been getting a runny nose frequently again and I upped his vitamin C, which nipped it in the bud. Clearly, he had severe inflammation and lots of germs hiding away. The procedure did wonders for his overall health, wellness and sleep. My former PDD/nonverbal nephew also had the surgery. He became verbal almost immediately following his recovery. He didn't start speaking in sentences but he started first with hard consonants, then 1-word, then putting two together, etc. Three years later he is behind his peers but conversational. He is also much healthier. We did not see the language gains that he did. -----Original Message-----From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ]On Behalf Of teachspeakSent: Saturday, November 29, 2008 7:36 PMTo: mb12 valtrex Subject: tonsils and adenoid removal - this Friday Hi - Anyone have their child's tonsils/adenoids removed because of recurrent fevers and strep? Guest guest
what you are talking about IGE wise is only a ped RAST panel only 40% accurate in foods, you want skin testings....this is likly why his tonsels are huge. are you avoiding milk and wheat? Guest guest
I asked for additional ones beyond the DAN! Pedicatric 12 IgE -- his allergist and myself picked them out... and we had full skin testings done already on him and the wheat and milk weren't elevated enough to count (supposedly) but his IgE for wheat was clear and had moderate milk sensitivity through IgE. I think it's a big allergist debate about which is better from what I read in Dr. Bock's book. We went full-on GFCF in October. I also had scratch tests done and absolutely nothing came up on about a test of 30+ and I thought I was very allergic (wheat, cats, dust, etc). So, I am getting blood as an alternative route. > > > > > > have you tried OLE treatments with it > > > > > > Recovering from Autism is a marathon > > > NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! > > > Read more about it on my BLOGs at > > > http://www.myspace.com/christelking > > > http://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwishes > > > http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 > > > > > > tonsils and adenoid removal - this Friday > > > > > > > > > Hi - Anyone have their child's tonsils/adenoids removed because > > of > > > recurrent fevers and strep? Guest guest
That's awesome. I'd do anything health-wise for him to get more verbal. I feel like we are missing the boat on something big. > > My 5 y.o. had his removed a year and a half ago due to severe sleep apnea, > mouth breathing, constant upper respiratory infections and chewing up his > food and spitting it out. Guest guest
> Hi - Anyone have their child's tonsils/adenoids removed because of > recurrent fevers and strep? Yes, we did. It did give ds about a one year break from the back to back to back strep throat infections. A year later he was back in the viscious strep throat cycle though. Having the tonsils and adenoids out did stop his snoring though so in that respect it was still a good thing. We finally kicked the strep throat with virastop but then a year later found he still had strep hiding out in his gut when we did a CDSA. Yasko's strep protocol finally got rid of it. Guest guest
My 3 1/2 yr old son had just his adnoid out in September. It also made a big difference in his communication. His nasal passage was 80% blocked and the swelling was even pushing up against his ears. 4 weeks after the surgery, he can hear things that he couldn't before, is picking up volcabulary, and went from a few words to putting together phrases. But, our son has also been a major gut kid and without all the diet, supplements, etc. we have done, I don't think just the adnoid removal would have been as big a success. Guest guest
Thanks guys for sharing your experiences!!! Ali – thanks for glutathione tip. Was it hard to give Valtrex and Diflucan after surgery? I am wondering if he can get an antibiotic shot to bypass the gut. And Liz, my son had a similar experience once he got ear tubes. Afterwards he started talking, even it was echolalia, the ear tubes drained the liquid that was backed up blocking some hearing.
Guest guest
We did the antibiotics also. We just made sure we gave plenty of probiotics as well. -----Original Message-----From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ]On Behalf Of Alison HoffmanSent: Sunday, November 30, 2008 8:08 PMTo: mb12 valtrex Subject: Re: tonsils and adenoid removal - this Friday You are welcome! It was actually only a 2 day dose of antibiotic and it didn't cause any issues for . He took the valtrex and diflucan without issue. But it was only the adenoids and you are saying tonsils so I know that recovery is different.I would ask about the shot - that's a great idea.Good luck! Guest guest
Hey there,I just wanted to share my own experience with tonsils. My oldest DD had hers out when she was 4. Since then, I've learned that tonsils & adenoids are an important part of the lymph system and removing them doesn't solve the inflammation problem. Her surgeon assured me after the surgery that the removed tissue was full of puss and likely the source of her chronic strep infections. Unfortunately, my DD developed asthma within 2 years of having her tonsils removed and needed an inhaler for years. Surgical removal of the T & A seemed to fix the problem initially, but the imbalance in her system shifted & found another way of expressing itself ==> this time through her lungs. My second oldest DD used to have tonsils that touched each other, with hugely infected craters in them that often produced tonsil stones. Yuck yuck yuck. I decided to approach this differently, using "alternative means". Once we removed the offending foods (gluten, casein, IgG's, etc.) and fixed the gut, her tonsils shrunk down to a normal size and the infections and stones are gone. For us, fixing the gut and removing offending foods were key to balancing her body, boosting the immune system and allowing the body to heal.I currently believe that our body parts should come with DO NOT REMOVE tags attached to them. Fix the diet, fix the gut, and then see if there's still a problem. If you've only just recently removed offending foods, it may be better to give the body more time to heal. Just my mom 2 cents. gina >> Hi - Anyone have their child's tonsils/adenoids removed because of > recurrent fevers and strep? Guest guest
my ds had his t/a removed when he was 5 yrs old (now 11 1/2). this was mainly because of family history of very enlarged t/a and the fact that it caused sleep apnea. the kids would stopped breathing! a first cousin of theirs when she was 2 yrs old (nt) had to have emergency removal of t/a. problem runs in dad's family: dad had removed, ds, nt daughter, and several first cousins. my ds is the only autistic in the large family. at the time, he was wf/gf/cf/sf. vicki Re: tonsils and adenoid removal - this Friday Are you talking about help for the die-off or the tonsils? Guest guest
Thanks for your two cents. It always makes sense to think twice about surgeries. As for my little guy, he has trouble swallowing as well and we have concerns about breathing, too. Also, I think it comes down to whether the tonsils/adenoids are helping or hurting the lymphatic system. So many people get healthier when they are gone but I am sure some have been taken out hastily. As I debate whether to go forward, my mommy gut instinct tells me they are probably holding onto alot of the viruses he's had over the years - if that's possible - I am just wondering why his antivirals are spurring fevers constantly lately. I am sure diet can help the lyphamtic system overall and I agree cutting out the wrong foods can help it tremendously. > > > > Hi - Anyone have their child's tonsils/adenoids removed because of > > recurrent fevers and strep?
