Urgent - Need advice on acyclovir causing eye tics

We started acyclovir on my 6 year old in mid August and he immediately

started excessive exaggerated blinking. (He's never had any stims or

behavior of that nature.) The nurse told me when we added Amantadine

two weeks into the acyclovir we should see this go away within a day

or two, and the doctor told us this was normal and temporary due to

him visually processing things differently but it should go away soon.

Well, it didn't, and only got worse, so with the dr's direction we

took him off the acyclovir on Tuesday after three months. The doc

told us the acyclovir would clear his system within 24 hours and the

blinking should go away with it. The blinking is near CONSTANT now and

I am about to lose it. I cannot bear the thought that this

experimental therapy has caused a horrible permanent neurological tic

in a child that was considered NT already but had very minor issues

with balance and sensory processing. I am not about to start new

therapies and treatments to make something go away he didn't have in

the first place, unless that's my only option. The nurse suggested the

anti-virals may have " stirred something up " and we might have to start

therapy for visual tracking (he has no visual difficulties and

excellent hand-eye coordination.) There is NO DOUBT IN MY MIND that

the acyclovir brought this on. It was instantaneous. Why wouldn't

taking him off it make it go away?

Any assurances and advice or similar experiences and outcomes anyone

can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
