Guest guest
The way the compound is made is not anything different with any pharmacy. There is no real "purity" as any (including the autism ones) will simply wash off the blue dye (request this if you don't use an autism pharmacy) and then crush and follow the recipe for suspension. The only other consideration is to ask for no artificial flavoring or sugar if you are sugar free - they can do it in stevia. But honestly, if it costs that much, I wouldn't have it compounded at all. I would simply buy the bills and compound it myself at home. You can buy flavoring syrups from Kirkmans if you need to (I used to just put it in a little under 1 tbsp of our diet friendly ice cream). Just prewash the pills and then crush them as you use them. I would definitely not pay $1400.You may also want to look into buying from a Canadian pharmacy as they do have generic. Cheryl~Check out my blog: http://www.gryffins-tail.blogspot.com/ We are in the Uk and our son has been doing quite well on Valtrex for about 3 mths now. Money is a big issue and we are wondering if we can cut the cost without compromising on the purity of the Valtrex... Please can anyone help. We do have a script from our DAN but we are wondering how on earth we can afford it. Shipping each item to the UK alone costs $120.Daren't do without it as we have seen some gains.Urgent as we need to decide whether or not to add it to a MB12 shot order we have to ship tommorow. Please advise. Much appreciated!Sue------------------------------------
Guest guest
we don't compound ours either - just wash off the blue and crush when needed (we mix it in a little juice and syringe it in). it cost us $212.00 US for a two month supply (after insurance). i wonder if you could look at getting it from canada? sometimes you can get drugs cheaper ordering from there. jennie > > > We are in the Uk and our son has been doing quite well on Valtrex for > > about 3 mths now. Guest guest
Dear Cher and Jennie, Thanks for your help! I have looked online at Canada 77 pharmacy and they can do it for HALF the price. We do not have insurance. It is really hard to keep going, only the wonderful gradual improvements over the years since we started biomed have kept us going. We still have a way to go but we are on the right track. He can swallow pills so I will just have to wash the coating off. The compounding pharmacy said i would have to use acetone, is this right? Best wishes, Sue > > > > > We are in the Uk and our son has been doing quite well on Valtrex for > > > about 3 mths now. Guest guest
we had our first bit of valtrex compounded at a pharmacy and it was extremely expensive. now i just get the regular blue pills, wash off the blue dye, cut the pills with a pill cutter, then crush them up with a little pill crusher and sprinkle that into my daughter's food. > > > We are in the Uk and our son has been doing quite well > on Valtrex for > > about 3 mths now. Guest guest
Here in the US we can get the tablets. Wash off the blue dye and crush. Valtrex is an expensive drug though.
