Hi ,

Nystatin is a very gentle medication. You shouldn't worry at all

about that. We found a yeast fighting enzyme like Candex or Candida

Defense to be very important for my son.

What dose of Valtrex will your child be receiving?

Thanks for the advice! The doctor was debating if she should start

with Nystatin or a stronger antifungal (cannot remember name) but

said we will start with nystatin and go onto the strong meds later. I

am not sure about the Valtrex dose yet. The pharmacy didn't have

liquid in stock, they had to order for pickup on Monday.

My DAN! doc says that he _always_ uses a systemic antifungal like

Diflucan or Nizoral along with Valtrex.

Personally, I think we saw an increased yeast die off after stating

Valtrex with my son because the immune system was able to clobber more

yeast once it wasn't as occupied with the viral load.

My 42 lbs son is on 500 mg 2 x daily (1000mg)
