Guest guest
>>But, I have a concern about beginning Armour if the adrenals are not up to it.<< As you should! Look at the prescribing information on ANY thyroid medication, they all say that adrenal insufficiency should be treated before starting thyroid hormones. You CAN order your own testing for this if no doctor will take you seriously, as they did me. For $141 you can have saliva testing from Canary Club which covers all the sex hormones, thyroid hormones and cortisol and DHEA. Check it out www.canaryclub.org I strongly urge you to have the testing done now as your adrenal status may have changed since you had problems with it. -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

That is why I would like to be treated for adrenal without the testing. Then without thyroid meds you will not be hyper now. Stopping thyroid meds only makes you more hypothyroid. Or were they antithyroid meds you were taking? -- Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations The BEST thyroid website! http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

That never occurred to me. When he said this I thought he was indicating it could happen. I have never been hyperthyroid. Except for a brief try of levoxyl (which I understand to be the same thing as synthroid by a different manufacturer) I've been on synthroid and only synthroid. If I am understanding you that hypothyroidism does not switch over to hyperthyroidism that is wonderful because I could take my time and approach this without the fear of what might happen if I do not succumb to the pressure to resume synthroid. Thank you, patricia

He is trying to use scare tactics on you and flat out lying to you. There is no way that stopping Syncrap will make you go hyperthyroid, just MORE hypo. If it were me, I would be looking for another doctor, possible a DO as they are more open minded to prescribing Armour and know better what they are doing with it. You could also try going to a local pharmacy and asking the pharmacist which doctors in your area prescribe Armour.I find this to be the best way to find a decent doctor. Even then you have to watch they don;t try to keep you undermedicated by dosing you by the TSH test which is worthless. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV My Ebay Jewelry Store http://stores.ebay.com/valeriescrystalcreations http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

That in itself will help my adrenals I did ask at the local pharmacy but they did not have a name. I'll find someone. On Monday, I am going to ask the endo (not pcp) if she will work with me and if she won't I'm out of there. We are all being held hostage by our systems, in my view. The societal response of managed care was intended to address unnecessary medical treatment and believe me there was and probably still is lots of unnecessary treatment. Managed care has fallen short and created other problems. You are providing something here that cannot be measured. Wishing you the very best of everything, patricia
