Guest guest
If he's been on Diflucan for 6 months it's probable that it's not working anymore. I usually have to rotate to another antifungal around the 4 month mark. Cheryl~Check out my blog: http://www.gryffins-tail.blogspot.com/ Hi everyone,My son has been on Diflucan and Nystatin for the past 6 mos. He is on a GFCFSF diet. He gets fruit once a day, sometimes twice. He is 2 1/2 and still will only eat pureed foods (gags with anything else or spits out) Because he only eats purees, we try to thicken them with potato flakes at pretty much every meal. His meals are typically meat and veggie with potato flakes mixed in to thicken. He also gets rice milk twice a day.His yeast level is still high despite the meds. It's hard because we are trying to work on his (sensory?, oral motor? probably both) issues with food and not give the yeast much to feed on at the same time.I've read some posts where people talk about pulse doses of Diflucan/Nizoral. For anyone who has done this can you give me more info? How long did you do each, any time off in between? Any other suggestions? Thanks so much,Kelley------------------------------------

Guest guest
Bananas have a large amount of sugar in them; we had to actually switch to berries. I know when we started our Diet, we were told not to eat anything White. BUT, I know this is hard when the little one will only eat certain things. We had to actually Up our yeast protocol.Subject: Re: tough to kill yeast, advice needed please. To: mb12 valtrex Date: Wednesday, December 17, 2008, 2:27 AM My son only eats bananas and applesauce. Guest guest
I know most people haven't heard of this, but there is a product called " Oxy-C " (not oxy-contin, that's a pain killer) which is just Vitamin C and Magnesium peroxide. Our DAN gave it to us. It works by oxygenating the gut and kills yeast and anaerobic bacteria. It really did the trick for us when yeast aid, Candex, diflucan and amphotericin didn't even touch the stuff. We saw the most amazing die off and he was so much better afterwards. We still use it for flare ups and it is great. It does loosen the bowels a bit, but mine already had chronic runny poo so that was not so different. > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > My son has been on Diflucan and Nystatin for the past 6 mos. Guest guest
Do you do the SCD diet? My son is just so limited all ready. If I take his fruits and rice away, the only thing left would be chicken, turkey, and if I am lucky a couple vegetables. How long do you need to restrict him away from these foods, and can you eventually add them back in? He had a +1 on his comprehensive stool analysis for yeast and is on Amphotericin for 1 month now. I will do anything it takes to make him better. Can you give me any advice? Thanks so much! Guest guest
We do SCD and use a lot of squash. It's filling for us and satisfies the need for starch like rice. And my daughter gets one pear a day. two would make her nuts. Try pearsauce instead of apple. lisa Re: tough to kill yeast, advice needed please. Guest guest
Pearsauce? Can you buy that or is that something you have to make yourself? Luckily my son has liked squash in the past. Describe what "nuts" is! My nuts is "EEEE"ing, running back and forth, and hyperactivity. It is very hard to get his attention during these times. Guest guest
we do SCD. get the book " breaking the vicious cycle " - that's a great starting point. check out the website www.pecanbread.com - it's specifically for ASD and SCD. some kids respond quickly to SCD and with some it takes longer. note that the diet must be followed in stages, so you will want to have a decent understanding before jumping in. we do a lot of food preparation in advance, particularly snacks. that way, we are never left with a hungry guy and no food he can eat. also, be aware - there is often a frame of time of great great hunger on the diet - for us it hit around the one month mark and lasted probably a month. our 3 year old was eating literally 10 lbs. of chicken a week as well as a between 1-2 dozen SCD muffins and all the other food we were giving him. i wish i would have known beforehand that it was a typical response. jennie > > > > my son could not have gotten rid of his yeast with a peice of fruit > a day (unless it was a non yeast feeding one) even 2 a day, or with > potatoes and a VERY sugary AND carb based drink > > > > Recovering from Autism is a marathon > > NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! > > Read more about it on my BLOGs at > > http://www.myspace. com/christelking > > http://foggyrock. com/MyPage/ recoveringwishes > > http://www.facebook .com/profile. php?id=677063169 > > > > tough to kill yeast, advice needed please. > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > My son has been on Diflucan and Nystatin for the past 6 mos. Guest guest
We only gave sour lo sugar fruits on empty stomach w/ a fermented food. If you don't go SCD, you may try soaking and sprouting quinoa/millet/buckwheat/amaranth as with body ecology diet. However we also practice food combining. So though these soaked/sprouted seed grains are allowed, we only have 20% on the plate combined with 80% vegetables. It all has to be digested quickly and easily. > > > > my son could not have gotten rid of his yeast with a peice of fruit > a day (unless it was a non yeast feeding one) even 2 a day, or with > potatoes and a VERY sugary AND carb based drink > > > > Recovering from Autism is a marathon > > NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! > > Read more about it on my BLOGs at > > http://www.myspace.com/christelking > > http://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwishes > > http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 > > > > tough to kill yeast, advice needed please. > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > My son has been on Diflucan and Nystatin for the past 6 mos. Guest guest
Hi, We've added MCT (medium chain triglyceride) oil to our yeast regiman. I found the recommendation in an older autism book by Shaw, and I buy it from Vitacost.com for about $8.00 a bottle. It seems to help. It has no taste so I just throw it in my sons food. They can take up to 15 ml a day (3 tsp). I put 1 tsp in each meal. I have also been trying to get my son off rice, and he is also just a " pureed food " eater. I started using buckwheat cereal from amazon.com (Bob's Red Mill) which I use to thicken things instead of rice or potatoes. Buckwheat is actually a nut apparently, and this brand is organic. I've had really good luck with this, as it has a really mild flavor so anything else added covers it up (even though it tastes pretty good on its own). I add a little extra water so that its pasty and some olive oil, figured what the heck its healthy, to keep it from sticking together. I make enogh for about 3 days (about half a package) and put it in the fridge in a glass container. Guest guest
tapioca is very starchy and would be a huge yeast feeder as well....not sure on the quinoa on how starchy it is as my kids are allergic to it. bean flours or flours with more protien are going to be best.... Guest guest
I just cook a pear and mash it up. Our nuts is similar- hyper and wanting more and more food. My daughter is 21 and has been hyper most of her life. SCD, OLE and difflican really calmed her down a lot. Re: tough to kill yeast, advice needed please. To: mb12 valtrex@ yahoogroups. com Date: Wednesday, December 17, 2008, 2:27 AM My son only eats bananas and applesauce. He doesn't get rice milk , but does eat rice and rice pasta. He is GF/CF and has allergies to potatoes, corn, soy and more. Rice is the only grain he eats. Would this still allow yeast to live? > > my son could not have gotten rid of his yeast with a peice of fruit a day (unless it was a non yeast feeding one) even 2 a day, or with potatoes and a VERY sugary AND carb based dr ink > > Recovering from Autism is a marathon > NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! > Read more about it on my BLOGs at > http://www.myspace. com/christelking > http://foggyrock. com/MyPage/ recoveringwishes > http://www.facebook .com/profile. php?id=677063169 > > tough to kill yeast, advice needed please. > > > Hi everyone, > > My son has been on Diflucan and Nystatin for the past 6 mos. Guest guest
We gave him 2 capsules 3 times a day to start with, but now if we need a maintenace dose we give him one or two twice a day. It was really the only thing that worked for us and we tried just about everything. We are also SCD now and yeast is alot less of a problem, but the Oxy-C definitely made a dent in it! It looked like handfuls of black sand in his poop, the die off was massive. When we tested him after using it and there was no more yeast showing in the test results. > > How much of the Oxy-c do you give your little one? Guest guest
I suggest to try the Specific Carbohidrate Diet or the Yeast Free diet rice is not good. Sugar must be banned
Guest guest
Oxy-C does sound amazing. Does it also help with the bad bacteria? > > > > How much of the Oxy-c do you give your little one? Guest guest
As far as I know, only if they are anaerobic. My son did test free of yeast after it but we saw a bit of klebsiella I think. > > > > > > How much of the Oxy-c do you give your little one? Guest guest
Hi, This sounds very compelling. I am wondering if you know if this increases free radicals? Guest guest
-As far as I know the only fruit that does not feed yeast are pears. (recommended by Dr. Shaw in his book) This is almost the only fruit that my son eats. We give him it with different nut butters, like cashew, almond ,macadamia and when we can find it hazelnut butter. He is very allergic to peanuts, so we stay away form this. This I think is allow by the specific carbohydrate diet. If you can add blueberries or blackberries, that are great in antioxidants, you can provide good quality nutrition as well.- - In mb12 valtrex , " Christel King " wrote: > > absoluly, rice and apples are not just yeast feeders but HUGE yeast feeders. bananas is a med one as well > > Recovering from Autism is a marathon > NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! > Read more about it on my BLOGs at > http://www.myspace.com/christelking > http://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwishes > http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 > > tough to kill yeast, advice needed please. > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > My son has been on Diflucan and Nystatin for the past 6 mos. Guest guest
I don't actually know for sure, but since it has vitamin C I would expect not. > > Hi, > > This sounds very compelling.
