Viral child after gut virus during infancy? PANDAS?

Can a child develop PANDAS after being ill/having a virus when they

were 3 weeks old???

My DS(now 2.5) has PDDNOS and had a 3 day hospital stay while he was 3

weeks old. They were concerned about bacterial meningitis and because

of his age, they treated with heavy IV antibiotics for 2 days until

cultures came back positive for an Enterovirus.

He had a fever and lacked appetite, bad color/listless during the virus.

He had already been a fussy, crying baby before the virus, and

afterwards it kept going. He basically cried/screamed non-stop for

his first year.

Now I know that the antibiotics messed up his gut... but I am

wondering if he could have virus problems now from this episode over 2

yrs ago? Could he have developed PANDAS from this bout with the virus?

He has never really been sick since, maybe 2 days of a runny nose here

and there. He tested off the charts for IGA antibodies, which I am

told means his immune system is in overdrive.

I am seeing a DAN in 2 months, can they test for PANDAS?

FYI. He has a very up and down temperment, with lots of crying,

problems with self-regulation and hyper type of behavior.

thanks-

denise

it's autoimmune basically so anything that crashes the immune system and then there being exposure could do it I would imagine
