Guest guest
I'm going to have my implants removed. Can someone let me know what I 'm going to experience after they are removed. My doctor told me that my symtoms that I have been getting have nothing to do with my implants but I know that not true. He says when he take them out I will hate the way I look, but I know I have to take them out for my health and my kids.
Guest guest
Hi! Welcome to our group of women, and this new journey of health. What your doctor told is what so many women have heard, and all I can say is have them come to our group and listen to the women who have gotten better since getting their implants out! I wish doctors weren't so blinded by their own biases. It was also very unkind of him to say that you would hate the way you will look....how in the world would he know that???? There are many women who have been explanted that are ecstatic with their new figures! If he thinks you are going to look bad, perhaps that is an unrealized admission of his own poor skills in making you look good? I'd say, " Thanks, I think I'll look for someone who can do it right then! " Taking the implants out for your health and your kids is the best gift you can give yourself and them. Please make sure that you have them properly removed....there is a right way to remove them and a wrong way. Most plastic surgeons think we are too dumb to know that, so they will just pop them out of you and call it a done deal. However, for the sake of your health, you should ask your surgeon to remove not only the implants, but the scar capsule as well. It is a procedure called an en bloc removal, and is traditionally used to remove ruptured gel implants. However, since the goal is to remove the scar tissue with the implant as one unit, it is a good idea for saline implants as well. The goal is to keep any contamination from spilling into your chest cavity while they are working on you. Your surgeon may not want to do this, as it takes time and skill, and most of them would rather put implants in than take them out. It is more involved taking them out, so a good surgeon is a must! Please let us know how we can help you in this regard. We have some recommended plastic surgeons, ones who know that implants are making women ill. For some women, going to a surgeon who understands all the issues involved is a high priority. For other women, convenience and cost is a factor and they must search close to home. After your implants are removed, you will experience a slow recovery if your immune system has been affected. Physically, the explant is an easier surgery than implant, and you should not be in much pain. The healing journey is more one of renewed lifestyle choices as we learn about detoxification, healthy eating, and taking care of ourselves...which means growing in many different ways. We're here to help in any way we can...just let us know. Best wishes, Patty > > I'm going to have my implants removed. Can someone let me know what > I 'm going to experience after they are removed. Guest guest
Hi , I had my implants removed two months ago (after having them for a total of six months). The explant surgery was much less painful than getting implants. I was sore the first day when I had the explant, but it was nothing like getting the implants. In comparison, I barely had to take pain medication for the explant, whereas I took alot for the implant surgery. I had alot of armpit pain after the implants (for more than a month), and my armpits only bothered me slightly for a few days after the explant. I had drains for the explant, therefore I didn't have much swelling - and I had alot of swelling when I got the implants. My nipples were very sore and picky feeling after implant, and after explant they didn't bother me at all. I'm able to sleep on my stomach again now, and actually for months after getting the implants I was very uncomfortable when I slept, even on my side. Two months post explant, I look close to what I looked like before, except I've got a scar under each breast. Initially the muscle was indented, but that's improving, and the scars will fade. Supposedly it takes about six months to a year before you'll see the final result, because the tissues and the muscle have to redistribute. For some reason, plastic surgeons (especially the one that performed the original implant surgery) keep telling their patients that they'll hate the way they look after they're removed. It's such a common theme. My original plastic surgeon also told me my illness had nothing to do with the implants, however there was another woman in his office the same day as me, crying just as I was, asking for him to remove them, and reporting the same symptoms that I had. I'm surprised he told me that. I didn't have my implants removed by him, because I wasn't confident that he would remove them en bloc or that he would fully remove the capsules. I wanted someone who believed I was sick and took all the necessary steps to make sure everything would be removed properly. Sis > > I'm going to have my implants removed. Guest guest
I definitely agree with you on that, I don't care about how I look, I'm so thrilled to have those horrible bombs out of my body. Guest guest
Welcome ! Anytime a plastic surgeon tells you that you won't like the way you look after he/she operates, run! . . .. With a good surgeon, you should look about the way you did before surgery if not better with a mastopexy (lift). I certainly did!
